I stated that New South Wales had lower numbers the entire time. By that I meant comparing like with like, which is how outbreaks should be compared. It makes no scientific sense to compare Victoria at day 67 to NSW at day 115. For the entire outbreak in Victoria, they have tracked higher than NSW and not just in a negligible way either. But we're no longer really counting cases in New South Wales. This outbreak is now the norm. We know cases are going to rise over the coming weeks, perhaps they may even overtake Victoria. But we don't care. This is called living with the virus. This may be difficult for people outside of New South Wales to wrap their head around, but it is easy for us. This wave will continue and we'll eventually forget about it like in Denmark, Sweden etc. That's OK just make sure you pay for your own problems and not expect to milk other states of their profits. NSW pays other states.

That's OK just make sure you pay for your own problems and not expect to milk other states of their profits. NSW pays other states. So it bloody should too! The original movement for federation was driven by NSW and Vic in the 1890s. Originally were going to include NZ but the Kiwis spotted a pig in a poke with this state/federal thing and said “No thanks! We’ll make our own arrangements” WA was dead against the whole idea and was only dragooned into the federation on the votes of the eastern states (or rather colonies back then) gold miners voting for federation in the goldfields which swamped the anti federation vote in Perth. The smaller colonies like Tas and SA said “what’s in it for us when we’ll only get swamped by the larger representations from NSW & Vic.” The sweetener from NSW and Vic was the Senate with equal numbers of Senators from each state, so Tas gets the same number of Senators as NSW and that way the pie gets divided up equitably. As for Qld it’s a wonder they signed up since they knew that the first item of business of a federal parliament would be to enact the White Australia Policy which sank the rather lucrative little slave trade the sugarcane plantations had going called blackbirding. NSW and Vic really wanted federation and they knew that without the agreement of the smaller states in population like Tas, SA and WA they weren’t going to get it. So they had to agree to cash transfers between the states so that nobody missed out. That meant NSW and Vic subsidising the rest. That was the deal. The eastern states wanted it, the eastern states brokered it, and the eastern states got it. Well may Matt sneer at WA that “NSW pays other states”. That’s the role it was happy to take on board. Don’t whinge about it. For NSW to subsidise other states is a central part of the Australian Settlement. Deal with that!

In 2018-2019 Western Australia's states product was $260 billion (14% of Australia GDP ) making it THE MOST productive and one of the most richest plces in the world. WA's GDP IS $100,367 while the eastern states is $74,605 on average... tell me why WA needs NSW money again?
in 2019 - 2020 WA conributated $83 billion.

This is what happens when the state is run by barren women. What witch made this decision? Where is the compassion for this boy and his father?

This is an utter disgrace. Palashay won't take responsibility for her own Qld residents! She's happy to leave them in NSW and let us look after them. She hasn't got a scrap of humanity when dealing with people who are suffering. There are no words to describe this miserable creature.
I hope when the state finally if ever reopens, everyone else gives them a big miss. I know I will. I've heard that people are now choosing to go to Fiji instead. This is a great idea because Fiji has full vaccination of their citizens and they are welcoming! They're also a lot better value than Qld and their beaches are beautiful.

Josh Frydenberg has said Victoria needs to get back into the fast lane. Absolutely correct. Time to stop the silly daily press conferences and just move on.

Serious question, what purpose will Annastacia Palaszczuk's quarantine facility at Wellcamp fulfil other than to waste Qld taxpayer money? With New South Wales removing all quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated arrivals, who in their right mind would travel direct to Qld and specifically Toowoomba?
What airline would land at the Wellcamp airport? I think they would be more interested in Sydney airport.

I see a broken image and I was right-clicking on the avatar to see it open in new webpage but it was still broken earlier. the path was www.liessmit.nl/afbeeldingen/avatars/fantasy/fallingsnowv.gifNow, when I check it in a new webpage it looks OK, but within Newstalkback it is still broken for me? Will investigate some more on why my browser is not displaying it properly. p.s. Just did a chrome clear out of my cache and now all is good. Strange, I did that earlier today but it was still broken. All good now though.

Most airlines won't allow unvaccinated people on their flights. It is a huge waste of money.

Haven't got a clue what that is. I know chrome and cache but not sure how to go about clearing it.
I only just bothered to bring my avatar over here. I've had it for a long time and I don't want to lose it. The medieval woman trudging through snow with her horse just so resonates with me. And that horse reminds me of my Little Blue.

Yeah, it's a nice avatar. As for Chrome cache ... the three dots at the top right hand corner - Settings - Privacy and Security - Clear browsing data - Clear data. Beware that if you have customised views of specific webpages that those settings might be reset. Generally though, it is safe to clear the cache and it often resolves website issues.

COVID-19 vaccination certificates for international travel to be available on MyGov from TuesdayBy political reporter Matthew Doran Posted 1h ago The certificates will feature a QR code which can be scanned by foreign border officials.(Supplied) New vaccine certificates for international travel will be available from Tuesday morning, as the federal government prepares for the further easing of international border restrictions. The International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates work in a similar fashion to existing vaccine certificates and will be available for download through the MyGov website. But they have added QR codes that can be scanned by foreign border officials. "If you travel overseas, and that overseas country requires proof of your vaccination status, you will have a copy of it," Employment Minister Stuart Robert said. "You may not have to use it — there may be many countries you'll visit that have no requirement to demonstrate you've been vaccinated. "But the last thing the government wants for Australians when they travel overseas is to be stuck overseas because they can't prove they've been vaccinated." Earlier this month, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced international travel restrictions would start to ease from the beginning of November for fully vaccinated Australians. The documents are linked to a physical passport, with people asked to provide their passport details when they request the document from Medicare. The certificate is then sent to the person who requested it, and they can print it off or store it as a file on their smartphone. Mr Robert, who has responsibility for the rollout of the certificates, believed Australians wanting to travel would embrace the new process. "Australians understand when you travel overseas, countries require documentation to prove who you are," he said. "In the same way, for example, that for the last 20 years Australians, when they travelled to Africa, they have had to carry a little international vaccination book that showed the Yellow Fever vaccination. "This is exactly the same — it's just done through digital tech as opposed to a paper form." The federal government insisted the certificates, with the built-in QR codes, were as secure as a traditional passport – carrying a higher level of encryption than the proof of vaccination certificates currently on offer for domestic use. Foreign nationals can have the Australia certificate linked to their passport if they received the vaccination in Australia Last week, New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet announced an end to hotel and home quarantine for people entering his state. Mr Robert said the system had been thoroughly tested for a number of weeks. "We will be, I think, the first jurisdiction in the world that will go live with this, having worked with the International Civil Aviation Organization, as they put these standards together in May this year," he said. www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-17/covid-19-international-travel-certificates-available-tuesday/100546130

It looks like Queensland has capitulated, but we will have to wait and see. I think Annastacia Palaszczuk might go back on her word.
The only recalcitrant state left is Western Australia.

I'm having problems linking my Covid-19 digital certificate with my ServiceNSW app on my mobile. I've printed it out in case I need it. Are you using the most up-to-date ServiceNSW app? You'll have to download it again and login to it before doing the next step. Then go through my.gov.au/, go to Medicare, view your vaccine history, then share it. Won't work on the older ServiceNSW app.

Yes, thanks. I did download the newer version of ServiceNSW. In fact I saw a notification on that app that I'll have to look at later.
I was in a hurry and just printed out the certificate. That is accepted everywhere.

That is accepted everywhere. I have mine on my app and it makes it easy if asked. But there are shops who aren't asking which I am fine with as well. The rule is that all they require are signs up stating that vaccinated people can only enter. But they will not be liable if an unvaccinated person is within their store as long as they have the signs up. So a lot of shop owners are using that technicality to welcome in anyone, which I totally agree with. They don't have to ask, they only have to have the notices up. If an unvaccinated person is caught in the store, as long as they had the signs up there won't be a fine against the business. But who will issue the fine? The NSW Police Commissioner has said that his police officers WILL NOT be inspecting vaccine certificates. He said that is not the job of the police. They'll only intervene if a shop owner calls them.

I rang the library and asked them about printing out the certificate and they said that would be perfectly fine and welcome back. When I arrived there was a security guy standing outside the front doors. He watched me check in with the QR code and I could have just walked in but I did pull out my certificate to show him I was vaccinated because that was a condition of entry. Otherwise he might have let me in because I don't think he saw exactly what was on my mobile! There were only a few people in the library. I returned 3 books I'd had for four months! I could have ordered books online and the librarians would have delivered right to my front door throughout the pandemic. But I found the street libraries that started up were really good and filled the gap.
I'll go and link my certificate to ServiceNSW shortly.
