Well, well, well! Regardless of the govt's, university's and Red Cross attempts to cover this up, a Sri Lankan has been arrested and taken to Surrey Hills police station for questioning. Even though the description of the attacker clearly fitted the Sri Lankan detainees, the university and Red Cross went to great pains to assure everyone that the attacker could have been anyone.
I would remind this sick Labor govt that the welfare of its own citizens is paramount. Yet time and time again, their only concern is to cover up their abysmal failure to secure our borders and allow these unsupervised males into the community.
Now the question remains, if this Sri Lankan is found guilty, is he to be deported back to Sri Lanka? Surely he does not pass the character test!!
Macquarie University 'failed' to call police after sex assault, 2GB's Ray Hadley revealed
GEMMA JONES The Daily Telegraph February 26, 2013 11:53AM
A YOUNG Sri Lankan man has been arrested over the sexual assault of a female student at Macquarie University in Sydney's northwest.
Police say the 20-year-old student was asleep in a student accommodation building at the uni when a man broke into her room and indecently assaulted her about 3.20am last Thursday.
The woman woke up during the attack and the man fled.
Police say they arrested a 21-year-old Sri Lankan national at Railway Square in Sydney's CBD on Tuesday morning and took him to Surry Hills police station for questioning.
Macquarie University provides services for asylum seekers, including temporary accommodation, under a 2012 agreement with the Red Cross Asylum Seeker Assistance Scheme (ASAS).
It was claimed earlier today, the university failed to call police immediately after security was told of the indecent assault.
The victim waited almost eight hours for help, 2GB's Ray Hadley revealed this morning.
He said a security guard came to the girl's unit about 10 minutes after the indecent assault and that he may have touched parts of the crime scene.
The victim and her flatmates assumed police had been called after the 3.20am attack but uniformed officers and detectives only came after the young women called them around 11am.

I wonder why the asylum seeker apologists here avoided this thread?
Pretty much like the thread about what a foul murdering terrorist Mandela was got whisked off the main page!
maybe it might happen to this thread too.

What's an "asylum seeker apologist"? What point are you trying to make? Forget it, Caskur! We know what point you're trying to make and so is the tabloid media shock jock grub that Stellar is pleased to cite as her "authority". Was it wrong, what the guy is alleged to have done? Of course it is. Did he get arrested? Is he in custody and facing charges? According to the c & p, the answer is yes. Bully for the police. On the broader issue, is the Gillard Government's asylum seeker policy a mess and a shambles? Yes, it's a dog's breakfast. Will Abbott do any better? Now this may surprise you but I happen to be a citizen of this country before my politics kicks in, and if Abbott manages to stop the boats from setting out in the first place then that'll be a very good thing. We'll see.
OK, now we move to chapter 2, which is that Garfield comes onto the thread and makes all sorts of ratbag comments demonising all asylum seekers as rapists and anyone who fails to share your and his bigotry and hatred of these people as somehow "approving" of rape.
It's crap. Why don't people come onto the thread? Maybe it's because they don't want to join you in your unseemly race to the bottom.

Fact of the matter is certain people from certain countries are far more likely to commit crime, have a poor opinion of women and have an aversion to work, the dept. of immigrations website says as much, we need to choose our immigrants more wisely as I'm sure the Liberals will do once sanity is restored in September.

University campus is not the appropriate place for economic refugees that's a no brainer, pubs and bars on campus kids away from home letting their hair down is no place for someone from another country new to all that.
Red cross should think how they accommodate asylum seekers...a place to educate with assimilation, who knows what experience's refugees have been through to be placed on a campus with young people....dumb to be sure, the government shouldn't be passing its responsibilities off on to a charity.

The bottom may have been reached. No, they can go deeper. Garfield the Dept of Immigration Website actually ID's you as the biggest fuckwit in the country. It says so in the same place as you claim it states people from "certain" countries blah, blah, blah. You are an essentially dishonest person Garfield. That's bad enough, but when it's combined with a lack of intelligence of the scale that you suffer it's just embarrassng. You appear, make a silly, spurious claim and then attempt to posit the justification that it appeared on a website. You are usually lying, and when you aren't lying then you are simply just wrong.

Well theirs planet Earth and then theirs planet Bender, on planet Bender the law abiding gainfully employed white conservatives are scum and the unemployed boat people rapists, terrorists and criminals are wonderful. And on planet Bender repeating the dept of immigrations own statistics that show 95% of boat people are still on centrelink after five years and people from the middle east are allergic to work will have you labelled a racist. According to the polls planet Bender and its wayward moons Gillard and Swann are about to be hit by a meteor shower of epic proportions. ;D

A grub? For bringing this into the open and embarrassing the govt? Let us look at the real grubs here ... Labor and its failure to keep our community safe, the Macquarie university for attempting to keep this matter quiet and the Red Cross who tried to make out it wasn't one of "their's." I certainly wish there were more "grubs" in the media to expose the govt and its vile policies and corrupt cover ups. We certainly won't find out these things from the leftist media like the ABC and the SMH.

Asylum-seeker indecently assaulted female student, court told by:DAN BOX From:The Australian February 27, 2013 10:53AM
A SYDNEY court has heard that a Sri Lankan asylum-seeker allegedly indecently assaulted a 20-year-old female student in her bedroom on the Macquarie University campus, in north Sydney.
Daxchan Selvarajah, who arrived in Australia by boat and is currently on a bridging visa, did not appear during the brief hearing at Central Local Court this morning.
His lawyer, Ken Robinson, told the court Mr Selvarajah was not applying for bail, but would do so at his next court appearance in March. The 21-year-old was arrested by police yesterday in central Sydney. He is understood to not be among several dozen Sri Lankan asylum-seekers who are being temporarily housed in the Macquarie University student accommodation under an arrangement with the Red Cross. Speaking outside the court, Mr Robinson said his client was "doing very well. He's obviously feeling the strain a little bit."
Oh ffs, he's doing very well and he's obviously feeling the strain a little bit. But who the f*** cares how he's feeling! How did that poor girl feel when she woke up with this ugly depraved creature in her bed assaulting her??
Now that he has been identified as the attacker, I expect that he will have his bridging visa cancelled should he be found guilty! He will be sent home. We do have a requirement that people who come here will be lawful and of good character. Don't we??

Recent development is that the asylum seekers were housed in student accomodation while students were on holidays, and the offender Selavrajah was not housed on campus but living in Parramatta.
Still the bloke is a ratbag and yet one out of thousands doesn't make them all criminals as Cascurrie claims.

If this is zoned commercial, it is illegal to live on the premises. And these males are economic immigrants, not refugees ffs. They are NOT coming from a war zone. We have to stop handing out refugee status to everyone who comes here demanding it!! Asylum seekers housed in commercial building in the centre of ParramattaA GROUP of asylum seekers is being housed in a commercial building in the centre of Parramatta, in Sydney's west. At least ten Sri Lankans are sleeping in converted offices in a single storey house that formerly was home to a drafting and engineering business in Marion St. Among the men living in the office was Daxchan Selvarajah, 21, who allegedly broke into a female student room at Macquarie Univeristy and put his hands down the pyjama pants of a young woman who was sleeping. He is in custody and will apply for bail next month. The Sri Lankans told the Parramatta Advertiser they had been moved to the commercial building in the past week from detention centres in Curtain and Weipa. The group said they get $438 a fortnight from the Federal Government and pay $400 a week in rent for the building. The men claimed they slept two to a room. There were 26 pairs of shoes on the front porch outside the property. 2GB host Ray Hadley said more than 20 men were sleeping on the floors of the property and shared one toilet and shower. All the men said they were on bridging visas and are Tamils seeking refugee status in Australia. One of the asylum seekers said they were happy with the accommodation. "We are happy here it is better than the detention centres,'' he said. "No one is the leader here. we are the same. We want to work but we don't have work rights.'' He said they had previously been in emergency accommodation in Toongabbie after being transferred from the camps. There were no children or women with them. Each of them had paid up to $10,000 for a boat passage to Australia, the asylum seekers said. They wanted protection from persecution in Australia. "We are Tamil people and we have many problems back home," the man said. . - See more at: www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/asylum-seekers-housed-in-commercial-building-in-the-centre-of-parramatta/story-e6freuy9-1226587430943#sthash.FsMUyTwK.dpuf

Goodness knows I have to work hard enough in the asylum!! While it seems a lot of the people coming here are going to get an easy ride at the expense of the taxpayers.
How this is supposed to help the economy is beyond me. We'll all end up like the US because too many people and especially too many welfare bludgers equals a lowered standard of living for everyone except the very rich. Simple economics.
