I've been sitting here trying to think of a movie that can be considered quite frightening, and I honestly can't think of one. The first Nightmare on Elm Street. It was dark not like the comedic sequels. Also Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I LOVE horror movies but that one really frightened and upset me on a few different levels. I wasn't the same for a few days after.

sorry Salem but neither movie has much of a scare factor....at least not for me.

Finally thought of one......Exorcist, The Beginning. Not horribly scary but it does have a few moments that are chilling.

It's hard not to laugh at the sight of Linda Blair with corn flakes plastered to her face

IIRC Bram Stoker never explicitly had Count Dracular suck any of his victims blood.

We call them Coalition Voterer So watching a violent movie will not effect you, but playing violent video games will. Oh...Kay.... That's not exactly how I read it. I got the impression Stellar was saying a majority of viewers aren't affected by violence in movies, but some are. I also think she's right in that people, particularly younger people, are becoming desensitised to the violence in videos and movies. I didn't see a statement comparing videos and movies? You are so right Volk. That is exactly what I was saying, thank you. Some people's comprehension "skills" are basically non-existent. You'll get a lot of that if your opinions don't coincide with theirs.

Finally thought of one......Exorcist, The Beginning. Not horribly scary but it does have a few moments that are chilling. I've always had a problem with the title of that movie. An "exorcist" is someone who performs an exorcism which is a religious ritual that aims to cast out a demon that has possessed an individual. Clearly that rules out the main character which is the girl who is possessed by the Devil. The exorcist in the movie is the priest who conducts the exorcism and ends up being possessed. But that's not who the movie is about.
