I forecast several years ago that these would fail for exactly the reason that they have. They're currently trialling them here, and I had the opportunity to see them in action a few weeks ago in Perth. Yeah yeah the government "said" that only trained and authorised people would have access to the monitoring equipment, but then again they also claimed that the image of the person is very cartoonish and they also claimed that you can't record or capture images. The image is cartoonish when used at the lowest resolution which then renders the equipment useless at seeing if the person is carrying anything. And the equipment can't record or capture images if you don't use the mouse or keyboard to order it to record.
It is a strip search. You are being strip searched without any cause or justification apart from the fact that yu wish to get on a plane. The images are viewed on multiple screens and multiple locations throughout the airport with pretty much zero control over who has access to them.
Standing orders are to under no circumstances put a child through screening. Of course we can trust the Wilsons or ISS security officer to follow those orders.
Can't we?

A butch pat down is better than some creepy man jerking off over images later on.

Have you any idea of what a complete wanker you come across as?, I mean not to slarti, pim, or gibbon brain but to the rest of the community, the normal part, I'm sure you'd be highly regarded here as a complete tosser.

I have no issue with these x-ray machines as I am not embarrassed by my size.

I saw a British border security type show where the customs officers suspected a black guy of carrying illegal drugs internally. They took him to a scanner which was not in a public area and the scanner picked up the numerous heroin packs he had swallowed. You've got to have these types of powerful scanners but I wouldn't want to have to be x-rayed by one. I'm thinking of the radiation risks. As for the other scanners that pick up other articles on the body, I find them invasive but necessary unfortunately. And you know who we can blame for this!!

I saw a British border security type show where the customs officers suspected a black guy of carrying illegal drugs internally. Ever notice with these types of shows, that the way they edited, it's always the black guy who is smuggling in contraband, or the asian guy, or the arab guy ? What does it tell us about the producers of these shows, and the message they want to portray, that the white bloke always ends up on the Cutting Room floor ? That's even before we get to any discussion of Stellars viewing habits. Remember, apart from her, the only other sort of people who would bother watching these types of trashy "shows" are the Bogan Riff-Raff

What a stupid decision. They are a safety measure that ought to be retained. X-ray scanners to be pulled from US airportsJanuary 19, 2013 - 12:01PM America's Transportation Security Administration says controversial X-ray security scanners that caused an uproar for showing revealing images of passengers are going to be retired from all US airports. The decision came after manufacturer Rapiscan failed to develop less invasive imaging software on time. It will remove all 174 full-body scanners from airports by the end of May. The scanners aimed to screen passengers for concealed weapons and other prohibited items but created a stir for showing the contour of the body with too much detail.
