Warwick McKibbon, a Reserve Bank Board Member from 2001 to 2011 and someone who (until right now) the Morrison Government has been happy to quote from has commented on Scotty's Super Housing Plan.
"You don’t fix housing affordability by increasing demand for houses and undermining superannuation. This policy seems to have been designed by the same marketing focus group that designed the Australian government’s climate policy."

So the choice is for the LNPs plan for you to allocate up to 50K of your super to purchase your house opposed the ALP wanting 40% equity in your house?
Now, as risky as accessing your super early is, it's far better than having Bandts Marionette Albo with his hand in your pocket for 40% of your house should you decide to leave it for your children.

State housing in WA have always had 60/40 ownership...for state housing tenants. 60% for home owner, 40% for the government. It's nothing NEW in WA at least.
It gives the purchaser a sense of stability without breaking their bank.

There'd be a lot more properties available to ordinary prospective home owners if the govt would stop foreign ownership. At present, foreigners are not allowed to buy pre existing dwellings - only new or off the plan. However foreigners get their children into university here and then get the kids to "buy" the established properties - with the parents' money of course - and so getting around the problem. We've seen 16 year old students buying multi million dollar houses and several units each that the parents were not allowed to buy as foreigners. The problem is rife - as my son told me, his real estate agent said that 80% of his clients are now Chinese!! This should be a wake up call. We should be helping our OWN kids - not foreign Chinese and their kids! Surely there must be some advantages to being an Australian citizen? Being able to buy a forever home should be one of them. These loopholes need to be closed. Otherwise we will all end up as tenants in our own land.
