I'm really concerned about this because my grandkids will be attending the show today. I had already decided not to go with them because I thought it might be raining. But this murder really puts you off.
Even the NY Times stated that the Sydney Royal Easter Show's reputation as a favourite wholesome family event has taken a tremendous hit!
In recent years the show has become the place for violence by gangs of teens. Last year there was a brawl where someone had a knife and two people suffered cuts to the legs.
On Monday night, a 17-year-old boy who was working at the show was fatally stabbed in the chest during a brawl surrounded by the carnival games.
The victim
Footage captured by shocked witnesses shows two teenagers punching and kicking one another as families watched on in horror.
Can you see anyone who isn't an ethnic in the above image? Apart from the police of course.
What a disgusting act to take place when families are out to enjoy themselves. Because of this senseless act, the whole carnival rides section at the show had to be closed down disappointing thousands of show goers and it will still be closed down for 24 hours as investigations take place. Any ticket holders who wish to cancel will get full refunds although the rest of the show will go ahead as usual.
Initial investigations into the brawl have concentrated on the "postcode war" between teenage gangs in the western suburbs.
A high proportion of public housing, a high proportion of migrants and a high proportion of unemployment, in any city in the world that is a recipe for disaster,' Western Sydney University Dr Mike Kennedy said.
'The governments leave it to the police to deal with so they don't have to accept responsibility.'
Which is something I am always on about and why I vote Sustainable Australia - high immigration, low skills, high crime rates, lack of housing and unemployment that affects many immigrants is why we must cut immigration rates.
