Must admit, when I heard he had died in Thailand I assumed he carked it "on the job". Is that awful of me?

He has beautiful children. His son Jackson was on SAS Australia. Ant from SAS Australia left a heartfelt message on his facebook page about Warnie.

The tributes all day have been amazing. The sad part about it tomorrow we'll hardly ever hear about him again.
Gone way too early.

Must admit, when I heard he had died in Thailand I assumed he carked it "on the job". Is that awful of me? I must admit I thought much the same. Warnie just couldn't keep it zipped. Then there was the booze and drugs. If you don't look after your body, you suffer the consequences. And that is often a shortened life. He seemed to have more time for his friends and girlfriends than his family. He always said he made a bad husband but a good father - although his son might have disagreed. But 52! He didn't even reach his 3 score years. Sad that, especially considering what a great cricketer he was.

Only 2 types of heart attacks...one you survive and one you don't..

The family should have agreed to a state funeral. This man was universally loved.

He is having a state funeral. The biggest shock in all this is that Warnie was as mad as a hatter. Honestly, who would go on a 2 week fluid "cleanse"? That's utter madness.

Hope you are still high and dry Stellar ... just saw some video of Manly ... like a river flowing down in the shopping area somewhere there.

Just saw this. Thanks Gort .... all the water in Manly was gone the next day! The flooding was caused by flash floods where the drains just couldn't cope temporarily with the massive amount of water from those torrential rains. And high tides at the lagoon certainly didn't help either. But all back to normal the next day. Amazing really, it was business as usual.

Yes, the family changed their minds within 24 hours. They are still going to have private funeral though and then a memorial at the MCG. He wanted a year off and his manager would only give him 3 MONTHS.
