Oh where do I start!! There's apparently a problem with my Microsoft accounts - I keep getting that message when I log in. But the email address showing is an old Hotmail address I no longer have and can't remember the password and the phone number is my landline so they can't send anything there. And when they sent me some info to my other email address so I can access my security key, I couldn't click on "continue" so that's as far as I got. What I want to do is transfer the photos on my mobile to my new laptop. But I can't do anything because I can't fix these Microsoft accounts.

Thanks for that Gort, but I fixed it another way.
I simply went and turned off Nearby Sharing. Share across devices was already turned off.
Then I plugged in my mobile and it immediately imported all 200 images to my laptop - so all done in a matter of minutes. Yay!
And I don't expect I'll be getting any of those aggravating messages about fixing my Microsoft accounts again.

But I'm not out of the woods yet Gort! I tried to post one of those images in Proboards but it says the image is too large. The image is not to be any larger than 1 mb and that is the size of the image I am trying to post.
Any ideas?

The image is not to be any larger than 1 mb and that is the size of the image I am trying to post. Any ideas? If you open the image (edit the image) in Windows paint or similar, try to resize it by pixels and make it 800 wide. Then save as a new .jpg file. It should be way below 1 Mb then.

Thanks Gort but this image is exactly the same as every other image I've ever posted over the years - with absolutely no problems - from my Pictures. I just can't understand why it is doing it now. And do all those images have a blue box in bottom left hand corner with two arrows? I don't remember that.

And do all those images have a blue box in bottom left hand corner with two arrows? I don't remember that. The blue box with two arrows would indicate that the files are stored in a compressed folder or drive. If you have no luck resizing maybe create a free account on imgur and upload the picture to there. Then post a link to the picture on proboards. imgur.com/Sign up, make an album ... upload pics and then copy the link. (I use the "copy BBcode" option and then paste that in proboards)

So why is it doing this now? The blue boxes with arrows? I've never had that before. Do you think this is something to do with the Microsoft accounts?

Our posts crossed over ... should be nothing to do with the Microsoft Account issue, but your new laptop defaulted to compressed folders to save space. You probably don't need to have compression on. If you don't want the files to be in a compressed folder ... You can change that setting. In Windows file explorer ... Right click on the folder where the pics are stored and select "properties"... Then "Advanced" ... I'm guessing yours is showing a tick under compressed - untick that ...

When I went to Compress contents, the box was already unclicked!

Does this have something to do with Norton do you think?
The blue boxes have two white arrows. I have never had this happen before and it's happened since I got Norton A/V.

When I went to Compress contents, the box was already unclicked! Could be the entire drive is set to compressed? In which case you can select the C: drive or whichever drive it is and see if the drive is using compression, then untick that and let it uncompress all subfolders ... but being compressed should not cause an issue generally. Windows uncompresses the files on the fly as required. Although I have seen odd things happen on compressed drives in the past (30 odd years Very Odd) as an IT professional does throw up some strange things along the journey

I had assumed the icon was the windows compression one... Is the one you are talking about this one? ... I had assumed it was this one ... My mistake.

This particular icon overlay occurs if you have third-party antivirus software installed. This happens after an auto-created backup of files by the AV software, therefore showing a checkmark or double forward-facing arrow (chevron) in a blue box overlay along with the icon. The icon displayed, simply indicates that the file has been changed by its last backup. How to remove the chevron (>>) character in a blue box icon overlay This icon overlay is more or less not harmful to your PC, as already explained what it is above. However, if you feel a slight discomfort about the icon overlay, you can easily remove it. To remove this icon overlay, you’ll need to uncheck Backup status indicators on the third-party antivirus software settings. Below, we outline how to do that on Norton Security. You can turn off backup from the Settings window, Backup Settings window, or from the Backup Details window. www.thewindowsclub.com/chevron-character-in-a-blue-box-icon-overlay

So that brings us back to why your pics are not accepted in proboards ...
It might be that you have run out of space in your proboards account ... reached the global limit on that board?
Or, the pictures really are big ones in which case you can either edit them and resize them down to see if that works, or try the imgur free online storage thingy and post the link to proboards rather than the actual picture file.

I've never seen this before. I had McAfee antivirus before and never had a problem posting pictures.

I don't know that I've run out of space because I have nowhere near the number of images stored on my laptop than others. I'm not a compulsive photo taker.

No, I mean your proboards account might have a global posting size limit. Those white arrows just indicate that Norton needs to back them up next time it does a backup. Should not mess up posting to a discussion board as far as I know. However, if you right-click on one of the photos on your laptop and check the properties ... how big is it saying the photo is? In terms of file size is it in KB or MB... and in details how many pixels wide? Or ... just hover your mouse over one of the pictures ... it should tell you the size of the file.

Okie dokie ...
In that case, I reckon a little experiment is in order.
If you edit one of the photos (in Windows paint for example) and resize it to 800 pixels wide and save it as a new .jpg file ... Do that rather than saving over the top of the existing photo because you would lose the quality of the original picture ...
Then try posting that new file which should be well below 1 MB
If that fails, then try the imgur free account and upload the photo there and post a link to the imgur file in proboards?
I think that will solve any size issues.

Ok ... this photo is of my son's Landcruiser and caravan. It was sent to me by my DIL and the only reason I can post it is because it states it is resized. Yet other photos she's sent have not been resized. I might also ask her about this because she takes millions of pics so she'd have millions stored somewhere so she'd probably know about this resizing.
