The Queen and Prince have sent messages of condolence to the people affected by the Tasmanian Bushfires.
What about a donation, or part of their welfare money? They're the biggest welfare recipients on earth!

donations and charity should be given without the knowledge of others....otherwise it is simply being boastful

Agree with that Jody. Except for things like telethons.

They're the biggest welfare recipients on earth! Bloody 'ell Matt! You're making me feel sorry for the royals ... for the first time in my life!! You mean you're actually criticising them for sending messages of condolence? I guess if they'd said nothing they'd have been criticised for being heartless. So with whingers and bellyachers like you they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't! What are you trying to do? Turn the Tasmanian bushfire tragedy into some sort of boring debate on the republic? Cor blimey, not even Earl Grey would do something like that. Peace, Earl Grey!! I'm only saying that you regularly trot out the tired old "Resident for President" arguments and I always argue against them. But you haven't tried to turn a natural disaster in which people have suffered and sustained losses into a crass and boring debate about something the Australian people resoundingly rejected back in 1999. I rarely ever agree with Salem but I'm with her of the point of making a donation: maybe they have made one and haven't made a song & dance about it. You (Matt, not Salem) on the other hand have form on this. I do recall you grandstanding in the past on donations you've made to this or that appeal. Vanity, thy name is Matt. I fully expect a post from Matt in response to my criticism. Here, I'll write it for him - he's always so predictable: "A republic is inevitable in Australia". To which I respond (because you're going to grandstand on the issue - we all know that) "So what! How does one of your silly and irrelevant 'opinions' dressed up as 'fact' help the people in Tasmania now??

They're the biggest welfare recipients on earth! If they're home owners near bush then they're supposed to have fire insurance... You didn't see West Aussies screaming for money from the Queen when we lost just as many houses in the west the past couple of years... fix your own problems!
