One of the lucky ones....I am on a will call you when ready basis...maybe a while yet. Was thinking of going to the big smoke Sydney via the Blue Mnts...what with Covid breaking out again...might give it a miss... I'm hoping they don't call because I'm not ready to have the vaccine. And Ponto, don't even think of going to the Blue Mountains. Because I will be there and we don't need you bringing the virus .... Leaving shortly .... not taking laptop. Outta here.

AstraZeneca vaccine now banned in young people in the Netherlands due to a young woman dying of clots! I can check facts that you can’t as regards the Netherlands since I understand the language and you don’t. So I went to the website for the newspaper with the widest mass circulation, the NRC Handelsblad for 3 April and went to this link: www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2021/04/03/opnieuw-prikpauze-voor-astrazeneca-a4038416I love the word for “vaccination pause” - prikpauze. Only in NL. It’s a very direct call-a-spade-a-bloody-shovel language. Time for a fact check: 1. Five people (ages not given) died from blood clots after receiving their “prik” of AstraZeneca. 2. Latest figures for the “prik” show a total of 400 000 people in NL have been “geprikt” with the AstraZeneca vaccine. Draw whatever conclusions you want. Matt’s pressing the panic button notwithstanding, the reality is that with a death rate of 0.00125% I’d cheerfully accept those odds and queue up for the vaccine.

A very prudent decision, however it isn't going as far as some areas of Germany and Canada in halting the vaccine in all "younger" people. Covid: Child jabs halted in trial as adult clot link probed7 APRIL 2021 BBC NEWS A trial of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine on children has stopped giving out jabs while the UK's medicines regulator investigates a possible link with rare blood clots in adults. Prof Andrew Pollard from the University of Oxford told the BBC there were no safety concerns with the trial itself, but its scientists were waiting for further information. EMA official says "there appears to be a link" with the AstraZeneca vaccine and rare blood clots7 APRIL 2021 BBC NEWS Speaking to an Italian newspaper in a personal capacity, Marco Cavaleri, head of vaccines at the EMA, is reported to have suggested a clear link between the jab and rare blood clots, though admitted there was uncertainty how the vaccine would cause the complication. The EMA has previously said that there was "no evidence" to support restricting the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in any population. FULL STORY: www.bbc.com/news/uk-56654022

It has been confirmed, the EMA says the AstraZeneca vaccine can cause blood clots and the U.K. is offering alternative vaccines to younger people due to the link.

Too quick to pull the funding on creating a Australian vaccine that was on the cusp of being made.....or stop fuckin' about and get some Russian vaccines.

Too quick to pull the funding on creating a Australian vaccine that was on the cusp of being made.....or stop fuckin' about and get some Russian vaccines. The Russian vaccine is probably a lot safer. I would stay away from the Chinese one though.

The Russian vaccine is very good...and Russian scientist are clever.
Australia is relatively isolated from the rest of the world, despite planes making travel time shorter, it makes sense for Australia not to be so reliant on overseas products...and become more self reliant.

The government is in damage control after having pushed this dangerous experimental vaccine on people. Who knows, perhaps all people who received it will eventually develop blood clots?

Too late! The vaccine train has left the station. We’re producing it here and you can expect the rate to ramp up as vaccine production builds up. What the government of Scotty from Marketing needs to show is more leadership and less happy talk spin and blather. Promote the vaccine. Answer the naysayers courageously and robustly. What would the Hawke/Keating governments have done in this situation? Remember the AIDS education campaign?
The odds in favour of an adverse reaction to the AstraZeneca vaccine are infinitesimal compared with the risk of death from COVID-19. The last 12 months have been exceptional for me medically because I have had no fewer than three occasions which have involved me being subjected to a general anaesthetic. One was for a colonoscopy, the second was for an monitoring implant for my ticker and the last was for when an oral surgeon gouged out a very troublesome molar. Each one was day surgery, all covered by hospital insurance and I walked out under my own steam. Point is that in each case I was given the standard caution, that doctors are obliged to give, regarding the risks involved in the procedure and I signed the waiver saying that I’d been made aware .. blah blah blah. I cheerfully accepted the risk and said “wake me when it’s all over”. Seems to me that the risk involved with AstraZeneca is no greater than the risk your doctor warns you of before you have elective surgery. Let’s get real about this. There is no therapy that is 100% risk free. Take your fingers off the panic button.

AstraZeneca vaccine NOT recommended for under 50s in Australia. Unfortunately, the Pfizer one isn't better. It is still untested. We don't know the long term impacts.

The New vaccines all use mRna. A research that has never been used before. I find myself reluctant to be their lab rat... Is that unreasonable of me?
I also don't approve of the notion that the current vaccines were made from the cells of aborted fetuses.

The federal government has just ordered an additional 20 million doses of the Pfizer shot.
This is literally just trading in one dangerous, untested drug in for another. We do not know the long-term implications of these mRNA vaccines.
