A wonderful interview with former Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard.
He was one of the modern greats, not perfect, but he guided Australia well during the decade he was in power. He paid all the debt off and gave us a massive budget surplus.
He did outlaw guns and rifles from law abiding citizens, which was wrong. But that was such a minor transgression during his time as Prime Minister.

He did take us to the war based on a lie as well. The IWIYW war. I Will If You Will - just like Vietnam.

It was what the intelligence was at the time, which was later found to be wrong. That doesn't make it a lie. He, along with George W. Bush and Tony Blair, made a decision on the information put before them.

Israeli information...and what Howard didn't privatise he sold off in fire sales like Australia gold reserves that was sorely needed in times of crisis...putting his own political interest first.
Gun control was Howard's best legacy to be noted in history....everything else was ordinary and unimaginative.

Howard should have been charged for war crimes and deceiving the public.
I have noticed on TV over last 2 days when Journo's and pollies like Natasha Stot Despoja and Tim Wilson and a few others are being interviewed on book shelf's behind them they had John Howard auto biographies in prominent positions to be noticed....something subliminal or just coincidental...??

Your son like many people who are of that era would be interested in John Howard and what he has to yabber on about, I find political autobiographies already a known.
I think we know the history of John Howards and his adulation by conservatives, yet he's economic agenda wasn't worth the adulation he received, (back then as is now with ScoMo) all here and now short term self interest policies, apart from future funds.
ScoMo allowing people to raid super funds is short term economy boost....long term more poverty.
Anyhoots found it interesting why people when on TV placed John Howard books in prominent view.
