ROFLMAO ... whenever I come to this group and see a notification symbol up next to my profile link, I know Sporky is being stupid and has quoted me again.
It's as regular as clockwork ... and also as regular as taking a dump.

Pearls before swine Occam, pearls before swine. The guy is so ignorant and so lacking in insight that he doesn't realise that he's ignorant and as for insight, well I guess when you're Prickles and have never had an insight into anything it's kinda futile to talk about"insight" in his presence

You fling mindless calumnies (look up 'calumny' Prickles) like confetti Prickles.
"Stalker"? Occam?
You
Have
Got
To
Be
Fucking
Joking.
Occam confines himself to the Religion Board and posts on religious topics. You on the other hand seek him out on this board in order to troll. You're straight out of the Donald Trump playbook: indulge in bad behaviour then accuse others of the behaviour. Stalker? Look in the mirror.

Well, there is only two options: 1. Your mind is designed by an Intelligent Agent outside of our finite universe, and is thus, reliable. Or 2. Your mind is the byproduct of raw natural forces and has no more significance than a cosmic belch. If you accept the latter, why ought anything you have to say even be considered? There is no truth standard of the way things 'ought' to be with Natural processes. Things simply are. Two points I raise here If we are indeed the product of scenario 2, the result of a series of incalculably improbable events over aeons, isn't that a far more wondrous proposition than being the product of a single event created in the mind of a higher being and thus, far more significant? Secondly, the concept of 'significance' itself. We are mere microbes on a mote of dust hurtling through the infinite cosmos. It is well past time we rid rid ourselves of the anthropocentric notions that power many of humanity's failings. In the grander scheme of things, we are nothing.

Shakespeare couldn't have put it better:
The "Tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow" speech in Macbeth and the "To be, or not to be" speech in Hamlet.
"This quintessence of dust"
On the other hand the excellent insight that Grim demonstrates isn't entirely absent from Christianity. Catholics begin Lent with Ash Wednesday. The ash is the burnt palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday. The priest uses the ash to dab a cross on the foreheads of the congregation intoning as he does so: Remember that you are dust, and unto dust you will return. I prefer the older version: "Dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return".

"Stalker"? "Dork"?
A quick question for you gentle reader: whom do those epithets best apply to? Occam who only ever posts on the Religion Board and confines his postings to topics germane to the Religion Board, or Prickles who posts everywhere, on every topic and who trolls and insults everyone?

Indeed, and the humility in much of Christ's teachings has been lost or is largely ignored in pursuit of the moral superiority which infects most major religions today.

Hence the George Pell stodge, which to me used to represent the embodiment of much of Australian Catholicism, with the occasional honourable exception (such as the defrocked priest Paul Collins) until civil society and the secular law exposed something much darker and more sinister in the man.
A propos of Pell, the appeal court judges deliver their findings this coming Wednesday on his conviction for raping the two altar boys.
This will be but the next step towards the case coming before the High Court. If Pell's appeal against his conviction is upheld then he will be released and the Crown will appeal to the High Court. If the conviction is upheld then the defence will appeal to the High Court. The third possibility is that a retrial will be ordered. In which case Pell will be released and it starts all over again.

Hullo Sporky!! How's your Sunday going? Oooops, I forgot ⊠you Canadians (just like your mentally-retarded cousins on the other side of your southern border) are so backwards that you are almost a day behind us considerably more enlightened folks down-under (apart from some exceptions, such as that stupid dumbarse Mr Franking Credits), most of whom didn't go to church this morning, 'cause we KNOW it's all a load of delusional garbage. Here's some religious music for you to zone-out your mind to before you head off to your weekly community brainwashing session when you eventually catch up with SundayâŠ

Hullo Sporky!! How's your Sunday going? Oooops, I forgot ⊠you Canadians (just like your mentally-retarded cousins on the other side of your southern border) are so backwards that you are almost a day behind us considerably more enlightened folks down-under That is such a stupid thing to say that it isn't really worthy of a response. It's one of those dumbarse statements that you can walk away from and leave flapping in the breeze. So let's so just that. Well, you do occasionally and accidentally get some things right! Speak for yourself! Most people who don't go to church do so as an act of indifference, not hostility or sneering. I agree, it's nice. But where's the poetry in your world view? Christopher Hitchens was an atheist who had a profound sense of the cosmology of religion - and the insight that atheism needs a cosmology - the sort of poetry that comes with a very ancient concept - still with us today and attractive to all atheists with a sense of the profound - called musica universalis or "the music of the spheres" that has always appealed to humanists and rationalists. You on the other hand are neither humanistic nor rational, so all you have left is the trolling and the sneers. You're stuck there with no sense of anything deeper. There's no poetry. If you allowed yourself to explore "the music of the spheres" you might surprise yourself by how much you deepen your own appreciation of the music you regularly dish up.
