I cannot stand walking around the shopping centres and through the city during December. All the Christmas decorations, the Christmas trees, the nativity scenes.
These are all blatant idolatry and should be condemned.
Jesus was not born on 25 December, and Santa is not real. This is a pagan celebration and I will not be involved in it!

I remember being in primary school, and my classmates talking about this fat guy that delivers gifts all around the world to every child within 24 hours using flying reindeer. Being in a Jewish family we knew it was fake, and we were not lied to. But at the time I could not understand why or how they could believe it.
A fat guy flying around with reindeer... LOL.
God condemns it.

God condemns it ... God wills it ... Deus vult! ... The old cry of the Crusaders. There was another one beloved of the Crusaders, what was it? Ah yes ... "kill them all! God will recognise his own." It all ended rather badly.

Matt if you're going to start denouncing relics of a pre-Christian time when our ancestors were heathens, you're going to have your work cut out for you because these relics are everywhere. You can start with the very language we speak.
Today is Sunday - so named because it was once dedicated to sun worship. Tomorrow is Monday, named for the moon goddess. In Fench and Italian they call it "lundi" and "lunedi", from the Latin "Luna" = moon. After that comes Tuesday, named after a Germanic god of war named Tiw. The Italians and French call it "martedi" and "mardi" after the Roman god Mars, who was ... you guessed it! A war god. If you talk about "martial law" or a "court martial" you're invoking the name of an ancient heathen god. The day after Tuesday is Wednesday, named after Woden, or Wotan or Odin. He was the king of the Germanic gods. Thursday after Thor, the god of thunder and lightning. In Dutch and German they call that day Donderdag and Donnerstag which mean "thunder day". Friday, the sexiest day of all, named after Frigg or Freya, the goddess of love.
Should we then move on to the months of the year? I'll spare you those but let me tell you the names of those months are full of pagan references.
During the French Revolution they tried to purge all those ancient pagan references from the language and to put it all on a more rational basis. So they renamed the months. "Nivose" or the "snowy month". "Brumaire" or "the foggy month". "Fructidor" or the "fruitful month", "Germinal" or "the planting month" and so on.
Didn't work. January remained January and people didn't care that it had originally been named after a Roman god. December remained December and people didnt care that it came from the Latin word for "ten" because the ancient Roman year had had ten months. Even the word "month" is a relic of an ancient moon worship. Who cares!
Santa Claus is small beer compared with that. Take a chill pill, Matt, and enjoy Christmas.

Matt is talking about The 10 Commandments where idolatry is spoken about.......I don't believe Santa is considered a God. When I was a child he brought us gifts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We didn't worship him in any way, shape or form.

I've felt uncomfortable since the day that I was born Since the day I glimpsed the black abyss in your eyes There's no way you could make all of this shit up on your own It could only come from the Mastermind of Lies
I can't believe that I've considered taking my own life Cos I believed the lies about me were the truth It will be magic to watch your transformation when you realise that you've been had It's enough to make a guy like me feel sad. . . . .
And you tell me that Jesus He hates homos son We told you that when you were young Or pretty much anything you want him to Like coco puffs, red cars and jews Postal clerks who waste your time Weight loss shakes, and the local news And when we win the war on society I hope your blind eyes will be opened and you'll see
Cos Jesus, He hates faggots, son We told you that when you were young Or pretty much anyone you want him to Like mates, spicks, redskins and kikes Men who cannot tame their wives Weaklings, cowards, and bull dikes, And when we win the war on society I hope your blind eyes will be opened and you'll see

Who cares! A child born on Dec 16 at 6pm in Paris would be born on Dec 17 at 3;30AM if he were born in Adelaide. Time is relative.

exactly Pim.....Matt we don't know the exact day Jesus was born and depending on times zones it would be celebrated over two days anyway. Choosing a day to celebrate internationally is fine with me.

The day of Yule?

Yule is the English version of the word for "Christmas" in the three Scandinavian languages of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. They say "Jul" and pronounce the "j" as a "y". The only language that has a word resembling the English word "Christmas" is Dutch where they say "Kerstmis".

We didn't worship him in any way, shape or form. Jesus was nor born on 25 December. We are agreed on that point, Matt. But I don't believe Jesus gives a holy hoot when we celebrate his birthday. 25th was selected because the christians were feeling left out of the pagan celebrations. But choosing the same day doesn't make the day itself pagan. Symbols only have as much power as you give them. Do you think you honor God by bringing contention, in a season devoted to peace?
