Apple could take a simple block of plastic, give it a name, then put an ‘ i’ at the start of that name, and plenty of suckers would queue up all night to purchase the iPlastic, then rave about how great it is!

lol...I don't get why people don't like them at all. I have had 3 of them and never had an issue. The other two have been passed on to other family members and are still going strong. In the past I have had samsung, panasonic and LG and had problems. The only other brand I have had and liked was Nokia.

I had a Nokia which went through a full wash cycle in a shirt pocket on three separate occasions (it was turned on when it went into the washing machine) and it actually survived it. In each case, I found the phone in the bottom of the wash bowl when I pulled the clothes out, with the battery cover and battery separated from the phone. I placed the phone on paper towels overnight, then put the battery back in and turned it on, and on each occasion it worked perfectly. Eventually, the screen died on it (I presume going through three wash cycles may have eventually had something to do with it) so that was the end of that phone. I dare you to put your new iPhone5 in the washing machine with your clothes and see if it survives it still working. I bet it doesn't!

KTJ....why would I want to even do that? No mobile phones are not meant to go into water. My ex husband dropped two nokias in water. One in the spa and the other in a puddle. Neither worked after that.

You're basing your judgement on old technology though, and especially in terms of Samsung. There is a reason why Samsung is now more popular than the iPhone.... and you can give it a test drive at the phone shop. I am unsure why people pay $1000 for an iPhone (over the length of the contract) when the technology is inferior.

This is a common sight for iPhones (because they're made of flimsy parts): Compare that to something which is made of quality parts:

All my three iPhones are in prefect condition. Why oh why do you need to preach about mobile phones Mat? Does it really matter what other people have? I don't think so. I put this thread up to see if anyone else was going to try the new one. I am, can't wait for it as it is a bigger phone which I also prefer. You will never change my mind so please, quit trying.

My daughters iPhone 5 arrived yesterday.....very nice phone. Very light and the size makes it far easier to use. Mine should be here soon too.

I would never own anything Samsung. Too many issues with that brand.

Samsung makes most of the components in your iPhone... so by the same token, Apple is?

oh well...maybe it is just the crappy word "Samsung" that makes things turn to crap if it is written on them.

I wont buy Android, it is pure spyware.
I just looked at that page, and my reply is that I already have a PC in my pocket, it is called Windows Phone 8.

Don't worry, Linux is probably too advanced for most people.
