One of the things I love about living in Adelaide is the quality of the seafood. You buy King George whiting or ling or flathead at an Adelaide fishmarket, it was probably swimming that morning. Contrast that with Canberra, my previous place of abode, where the fish on offer at the markets would have been distributed via Sydney and they're a couple of days old. Fresh is always best and you can taste the difference. Or at least I can! I came across a story on the BBC website about the way they do fish farming in Hong Kong. I won't reproduce the whole article here but I thoroughly recommend the link www.bbc.com/news/business-26627408When you're in a town like Hong Kong where seafood is such an important part of their diet, I guess they deserve credit for such an ingenious solution. Makes me appreciate the seafood on offer here in Adelaide so much more ...

I love seafood...
My father was a crayfisherman... So is my uncle and brother.
I live on the Swan River and grew up eating crabs and muscles and prawns...
I really hate how they send our good fish overseas and import poisonous rubbish from Asia's polluted environment here and serve it up at fish and chip shops!

A diversion form your nice story PIm....but since we are on the subject of fishing, like the Canaries in mines used as a indicators that something isn't right Mutton (Shearwater)Birds are starving to death because of humans plundering the oceans.
Mostly harvesting small school fish that are taken by the 1.000's of tons to feed the aqua fish farms.
Recreational fishers are responsible for 30% of the commercial catch.
All take an no give there will be nothing left.

If it lives in a shell that clings to a rock then I'm afraid that ever since I had the most disgustingly spectacular reaction to a seafood paella decades which entailed my spending a whole night throwing my guts up in a Spanish hotel room while my wife looked on appalled, I just can't come at shellfish.

Back in 1978, I got food poisoning from oysters that came from Sydney... Didn't stop me eating shellfish though... win some lose some...lol
