Anyone see this series on SBS over the Christmas/New Year period? It's in German with English subtitles. One of the things I love about SBS is that they tend to do their own subtitling for foreign language series. I've seen f/l programs on the Arte channel in Europe where credit for the English language subtitling is given to "SBS Australia". So I dips me lid to them. Anyhoo, it's a 3 episode German series telling the WW2 story from the German side and focussing on 5 young people. The German title for the series is Unsere Mütter Unsere Väter = "Our Mothers Our Fathers". I recorded the series because I was away interstate for the several weeks that it was shown and I've only now started to watch it. Last night I watched the first episode. I have a mixed reaction to it but before I go on I wanted to know whether others have watched it. Or don't members of NTB like to watch programs that are in funny foreign languages where you have to read the subtitles at the bottom of the screen??

I'm a fairly fast reader so I don't really mind subtitles. SBS has commercial breaks, which is why I seldom watch it.

Sonex the fact that we can record these programs is a good way of dealing with the ad breaks. You record the program and fast forward through the ads.

Saw it advertised, never got around to watching it. Subtitles don't worry me, as long as the plot is worth following, you don't actually notice, after the first few minutes.
