Does anyone know how to get rid of this? It came in under the guise of Java Script but once installed, you can never get rid of it. Windows can't uninstall it.!! It is so infuriating because it installs its own search engine which I won't use. I've even considered re-installing Windows to get rid of it. At the moment I'm only using my laptop because it's not on it. Any ideas?

I actually realised that something was amiss and didn't hit "I accept" but it still installed. They're very sneaky and really smug when you try to get rid of it. There must be some way!! But my pc is getting a bit old now so maybe I'll buy a new one or just use my laptop. I have Bing for my search engine. Oh and I hate Windows 8 which is why I prefer to use my pc. My son reckons only the geeks love Windows 8.

I'll try that EG, thanks. But I have been seething for a couple of hours earlier putting Norton on my pc. I have 2 devices so I'd already put one on the laptop earlier. But there were problems with the pc and Norton couldn't install it because of some of the crap. Eventually I got it to install but I almost freaked out when I saw how many MBs it took! I don't want to go there again until I've calmed down sufficiently which might be some time. I suppose I could ask my sister who's on the help desk.

Well that CCleaner sounds like it might do the trick. It'll have to wait a few days though because I am going away and it might take that long before I am sufficiently composed before I have another go at it.
And seeing as you say you have been in IT for over 20 years I'll direct my questions to you instead of my help desk sister who is after all a marketing person and not IT. And I'm trusting you Earl Grey not to give me a bum steer that'll blow up my pc as a kind of get even trick for all our leftie/rightie feuds over the years. Just joking ... I think.
Now I really must go and finish packing.

I thought you might like some feedback about Snap-do? Well, I was able to finally get rid of it with CCCleaner! Although it did hang on as my homepage but I was able to change it to Google and that was the last of it. It is the most insidious programme I have ever encountered. It takes over as your home page and browser with all the other malware that comes with it. They don't see themselves as malware but that's what they are. Anyway, it's gone so thanks for that. However it hasn't been all plain sailing. I now have problems with long-running scripts and other things on my ageing desktop. So might have to use the laptop ... once I get the problem sorted about the non-charging battery! Fortunately it's under warranty.
