The Sweet Treat This is helping me to lose weight. 1 apple 1/3 of a cup of water Two whole walnuts 3-4 teaspoons of psyllium husks ( the main ingredient of Metamucil) Good pinch of Cinnamon Some scoops of plain sugarless Mundella Yogurt Just puree the ingredients with your bar mix appliance and top with plain yogurt. VERY VERY refreshing but any fruit will do…or any nut… just play around with it. It’s refreshing on the pallet. I’ve lost over half a stone in 3 weeks. I have this for breakfast or lunch. I now fit in my fat clothes…hee hee! And has anyone tried Stevia lollies? Brand name = Double “D” What a revolution in sugar free lollies…OMG… Stevia is just THE BEST.

Do you add the psyllium husks straight to the food? I thought they had to be dissolved in water.

Do you add the psyllium husks straight to the food? I thought they had to be dissolved in water. They don't dissolve... they swell .. You have to put water with it.... It sets like jelly within minutes... it's actually making me lose LOTS of weight. I'm a newly diagnosed diabetic. So some fruit + psyllium husk + water... This is just the Metamucil before I ventured out and tried other recipes of my own inventions.. Metamucil is far too sweet and too orange flavoured for me.. I have to dilute it with the plain husks. I also now blend it all with the yogart. It's all low GI and my readings are low.

No the powder does dissolve if you're talking about Metamucil. We used to give it out as a stool softener in the nursing home. It was a hell of a job getting people with dementia to actually drink it all down straight away before it turned into a gel.

It was a hell of a job getting people with dementia to actually drink it all down straight away before it turned into a gel. I want you to think the difference between sugar and icing sugar... Icing sugar is just extra ground down sugar... .. Metamucil doesn't really dissolve.. it just APPEARS it does... __________________________________ This concoction contains the obligatory red apple and walnut, half a banana, a tablespoon of yogurt, nu-vit fibre www.glutenfreeeatingdirectory.com.au/manufacturers/Nu-Vit and cinnamon ..+ a ¼ of a glass water with 3 teaspoons of Metamucil with extra psyllium husks. Garnished with the other half of the banana, a teaspoon of yogurt and half a walnut… I think mint would work in this recipe but I don’t have any mint. Under or around 200 calories, it’s VERY filling! Very low GI (that’s the new buzz words, “low GI…lol)

Banana Yogurt Metamucil Delight. Banana 90 calories or less. 2 oz plain yogurt 50 calories? Some fibre powders… calories negligible. Filling? Absolutely!

I made this tonight... 90% water 10% fibre How does it look friends? This is what losing a pound of fat looks like... Nothing to sneeze at that's for sure! It means I ate 3,500 calories LESS than my body needed for 1 week..

The Wild Berry flavour is OK but there is a funny chemical taste to it. The Orange doesn’t have that. The orange is far more authentically orange flavoured, still a change is as good as a holiday and I made a berry one today with two small apples… Same recipe. Just bong it all in the chopper and away you go. Due to the chemical taste from the flavouring, I give it C minus. If the company can fix that, it’s a pass and nice for a change.

This was better… Keep Blue Berries whole. Don’t puree them.

Well done on your weight loss Cathy , Have you been diagnosed as type 1 or type 2 ?
I have seen so many patients with absolutely out of control type 2 , running sugars as high as 25 ......its crazy .
Glad to see you are doing something about it , Diabetic Neuropothy and delayed wound healing are becoming huge issues for health care .

I wouldn't be able to do anything at all if it wasn't for the miracle of insulin shots. I would be dead. I feel so good.... I'm stuck on a plateau this week... It's depressing. I've cut out the yogurt from the desserts. I didn't have yogurt the first month and then I started having it in my psyllium desserts... Just about a tablespoon I guess but obviously the extra calories is more fitting for a maintenance program, not a weight loss one. If I drank black tea I could get away with the yogurt calories but I have milk in tea.

I'm not really on a plateau. I lost 700 grams this week and 800 the week before...
But I wanted to lose a kilo dammit...lol
Oh well, keep plugging along less the yogurt.
BTW people, yogurt is quite fattening so go easy on it if you try any of these ideas.
