This vegetarian diet is exactly what I needed.
I feel so full of life, and I am feeling so much more healthy. My energy levels have increased and I feel I am happier.
The best thing is knowing this is how modern humans should live, without cruelty, and ethically toward the earth.

Yes initially, because I was not getting enough iron.
I fixed that by changing what I ate, making sure I was getting enough greens and eating them with vitamin c rich foods.
I have to admit, the Dr told me to take ferro tab once every three days if I was adamant that I wanted to be a vegetarian.

Matt, I am happy to tell you that dark chocolate is also full of iron, and I believe parsley is too.

I think we should all eat more fruit and veg but our bodies crave and need protein so eating a meat product once a week is ok.

There are two types of dietary iron ...haem (from blood/meat products) and non-haem (leafy vegetables).
The latter is poorly absorbed and requires acidity for absorption, thus vitamin C is good to take with it.
We need both, so haem iron supplements are often prescribed to vegetarians, though I don't know how vegans cope
Perhaps that's why they often look wan?

Grim, I'm not sure, but I think Lambs Fry is one of the best meats to eat if one has anaemia. I buy it for my dog and it has just about disappeared off the meat shelves in the supermarkets and the butchers shop. I asked the butcher just recently why it was so scarce and he said it nearly all goes to export! This seems ridiculous to me, not only is it a good source of iron, but for families battling with budgets, it is so cheap. When I had severe anaemia recently the Specialist advised me to eat it, even gave me his own recipe.

It sure is Sonex...pity I don't like it, but all around me rave about lambs fry and bacon! It is going the way of lamb shanks...haut cuisine! You couldn't give shanks , liver or rabbits away once upon a time.

Jody, Meat is not the only protein rich food. Rice and lentils are also protein rich.

It is true. I also use a vegetable based protein powder, just to make sure I am getting all the amino acids I need.

My mum gave up in disgust after saying "eat your vegies" a million times!
Been eating rubbish for 74 years now, still here.

The best thing is knowing this is how modern humans should live, without cruelty, and ethically toward the earth. Vegan diets are great... short term.. Long term not so good although I have seen one of the most spritely, young looking 7th Day Adventist woman aged in her late 70's with a skin and body to die for!!! Didn't hurt her any! If you don't have the meat, poultry or fish, you really need a Legume substituted for meat at EVERY meal! But don't do what I did this morning when I went to have Brekkie... I had an upset this morning. I opened a can of Baked Beans in BBQ sauce and found this. I did try some of the beans and was left with a sharp after taste so I think this is some type of mould. I’m so upset because this is one product I have been regularly using for my diabetes problem. I have never had a problem with this product before. I’ve complained over the phone so they’ll ring me back on Monday hopefully. I know I’m being irrational but I no longer want to use this product… Even if they sent me a carton of them. Update, they rang me back and asked for pictures… I froze the can and the foreign body… I am being sent vouchers to spend at Woolworths BUT… I’m not getting over this for now… They’ve ruined breakfast for awhile.
