Hand up! All of them have brought a different element to the role. I liked the grittiness leather jacketed Chris Eccleston lent I think Matt Smith has done a good job for one so young, though the series has definitely targeted a younger audience under him Be interesting to see how Peter Capaldi goes. Being older we might see some maturity return.

Apart from Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee, my favorite Doc is the Scottish bloke (he is in the repeats they are showing now).
Anyways, is it time for a female Dr ?

Watched it with my Dad years back....haven't watched since Tom Baker....him and John Pertwee were the best Dr Who's. Loved the Dalek's. The only thing my Dad and I had in common was Dr Who, Star Trek and horses.

The speculation surrounding this recent appointment was that perhaps the next could have been a female; fuelled by the comment from Matt Smith after his regeneration when he felt his head and said "short hair...I must be male" that opened up the possibility. I think Helen Mirren would be delicious as the first female Doctor!

I'm a follower from #9. I've watched a few of the earlier surviving episodes with Tom Baker, but I really found the writing lacked something. David Tennant is my favorite, so far. And Catherine Tate was my favorite of his companions.
*P.S.: They could easily incorporate a female Time Lord, by reintroducing the Doctor's clone daughter "Jen." There is also the possibility of bringing back Romana or the Doctor's granddaughter.
It might even work as a spin off.

Torchwood was a spin off that worked exceptionally well.

I still think there ought to have been a spin off involving Jen and that spaceship she stole, after regenerating.

River Song is the Doctor's wife. She is the daughter of Amy Pond, Rory Williams, and by circumstance, the Tardis.
But the Doctor had a granddaughter in the first episode, who remained on Earth. That implies that he also had/has a family prior to Jen. He also confirms in this clip, listen carefully.

Dib You really are a Whovian Geek! Awesome! I imagine Dib as Dr Sheldon Cooper. I surmise that you intended that as an insult, but I'll use this the next time you try to categorize me, 'less intelligent'. (*Sheldon is awesome, but I identify more with Leonard.*)

Not as an insult, just that I imagine you share his utter social misfit status. Indicative of your tendency to be wrong about most things.
