I wouldn't worry too much about an oversized sandwich, but oversized meals are a real problem. Have you noticed the size of dinner plates these days!! I was looking at my Mum's Wedgewood dinner setting from the 40s and the dinner plates are only the size of an entree plate. One of my favourite places to eat is the Beach Club at Collaroy, right on the sand. The ambience is perfect, especially dining outside on the deck at night. But the meals are gargantuan in size. They could halve them - and hopefully halve the price too and we'd be happy. I've never been able to finish one of those monster meals yet. No wonder we're a nation of fatties! (my family and I not included in that btw)

Quality restaurants serve quality food that are not huge.

We have some lovely restaurants around here as you would expect being the Vineyards. I also love to dine out when in NZ. Some of my best meals have been over there.

I feel extremely guilty if I get served an American sized meal, because I cannot eat it and hate waste.
I much prefer to go to restaurants where they serve a reasonable amount which wont be wasted.

So it would be rude to NOT eat what was put in front of you in the country whose arse you'd lick at the drop of a hat.
