I don't have much respect for Julie Bishop, she is weak and seems as though she is unable to think for herself.

I don't like any politician so I wouldn't just single her out - there are a lot worse.

I did once like Julie Bishop.....she seemed like a decent person before she became a product of Abbott....now she's just a low wit Abbottoid.

Indeed Sonex that loyalty to Abbott has made her swallow her dignity as a women...now that is a shame.

old girl... old boy are fine Aussie expressions.
He called her a girl... that was a compliment....he could have said, Old girl... which is what she is.
Labor should stop trying to BS their way through the latest avoidence of running the country and start solving the problems...
everyone knows it is all a smoke screen to divert people's attention away from the real social issues that have been created from bad government...
Howard's government was good.... labor came in and did a few better things like raise the pension for the oldies but I haven't seen anything good from them since.

No it was not a compliment, and this may be part of Abbott's problem, sheer ignorance.
Reverse the situation, imagine Julia Gillard saying that Wayne Swan was a loyal "boy".

Two things: 1. Tony Abbott has referred to his chief-of-staff Peta Credlin as his de facto deputy leader of the opposition ... take a bow the actual deputy leader of the opposition Julie Bishop! 2. Tony Abbott hailed the election to Parliament of Josh Frydenberg, the current member for Kooyong (the seat once occupied by Bob Menzies and Andrew Peacock) by saying it was good to have someone on his team who "knew something about foreign affairs" ... take a bow the actual Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop!

Third thing... Tony Abbott was making a really big deal about the first female goal umpire of an AFL Grand Final! Err... how about the first female PM? Why would he make a big deal about Julia Gillard?

Why would he make a big deal about Julia Gillard? The point being Matty-Boy, that although it is fine to celebrate the first female goal umpire... don't you think the first female Prime Minister is slightly more important??? Politics is not sport.

Correct. It is much more significant than sport and the first female PM should be celebrated!

Praising the first female AFL umpire simply is a diversion for Abbott....his whole front bench has been tainted with a nasty invectiveness that has reduced the demeanour of pariliament to just playing a game for politicians..such is the Abbott persona....Mr Chaos and destruction.

Calling a woman a "girl" is far from a compliment. She's a loyal lady would have been more appropriate.

Calling a woman a "girl" is far from a compliment. She's a loyal lady would have been more appropriate. My partner is a feminist and I would not dare refer to them as a lady or girl. I only refer to them as woman or by their name. Early on I was slapped quite a few times for saying girl or lady.

Correct. It is much more significant than sport and the first female PM should be celebrated! Would have been a much nicer occasion if the first female PM didn't lie, cheat and kanive her way into office then accept the support of union fund stealing crooks and woman hating weirdos to stay there. Lets face it she's a f#ckin disgrace.
