I have absolutely no doubt that Veritas, like me, will never lose his faith.

You can lead Buzz to water, but you can't make him think. ;D I imagine Buzz's conclusion on this topic, have little to do with a lingering concern for my well being and more to do with an awkward attempt to bolster confidence in the shadow of his waning appeal. If I wasn't a perceived threat, I'd hardly be hardly be worthy of all this attention, now would I? But Jody has it right, my life has gotten a bit more complicated lately. My wife's struggle with breast cancer has become a mixed blessing. (Odd to say that in context with the 'C' word, I know.) But recently she had a fainting spell due to some complications with the chemo. After an ECG, they were able to discover a blockage in her heart's main artery. They call it a 'widow maker' due to the severity of its nature. She's been put on Nitro, and aspirin until she can have the operation. But this blockage is genetic related, and she likely had it from birth. If she didn't have the cancer, we may have never discovered it. ...Here's to those atheist 'nay-sayers' who contend that bad things happen for no reason. So anyway Buzz, you'll kindly excuse me if corresponding with you falls rather low on my list of priorities. If not, I couldn't give a rat's arse. Deal with it.

All the best to your wife, Veritas.
If I believed in prayer, I'd say one for her.

Thank you, Slarti. Despite our past animosity, I appreciate your sincerity and compassion.
...And despite your lack of belief in prayer, I know God hears your heart regardless.

Bad things do happen to good people for no reasons - sorry to learn your wife is unwell. On that point, I disagree, Buzz. Everything happens for a reason, even if sometimes we don't always understand what that reason might be. We don't have the luxury of seeing the full picture from this side of the canvas. But I can honestly tell you, many fortunate things have fallen into place as a direct result of my wife's illness. Things that would prolong her life, had she never had it. Some times bad things need to befall us, to prevent or delay the advance of something much worse. Even in this hardship, I can honestly say that I am blessed. Faith manages. But thank you for your kind words.

My Mum died of metastatic breast cancer and you only get one Mum. You ought to have your prostate checked regularily then, Buzz. We've learned since all of this, there is a genetic link between these two cancers. (Breast & prostate) ---I may have just saved your life.

Down here in our part of the world the acceoted wisdom is that once a man turns 50 he should get his prostate looked at regularly. My bro had a re-bore done a year ago. I remember my Dad had one done. With me, so far so good!

Veritas - just call yourself Veritas because we call you that and its easier than your current nic we can agree to disagree I miss my old sparring partner - so take care of you and yours I find myself facing forward Buzz. Focusing on the destination, and not on the trials of the journey. I have time, but little patience at this point. So I have held my proverbial tongue, to reduce casualties and hurt feelings. I have much to say, but I expect it'd be more beneficial for me to step back until I am in a better state of mind, before I regain my role as religious satirist/apologist on this board. My absence here isn't evidence of weakness, it's restraint. Sometimes one needs to take a few steps back and review the whole tapestry before he commits to continuing his craft. I will consider changing my name back to veritas, but I consider it low on my list of priorities. (And besides, my current name borderlines on the heretical, I expected to change it anyway.) And yes, darjeeling... I am aware of how 'clunky' that paragraph is. I don't really care. But you'll be happy to know that I've committed myself to improving my writing skills. I have taken up my pen to start writing my novel. If anyone wants to read it after it's published, they are welcome to. But I warn you, it won't be the tone or subject you would be expecting from me. --I did not write this book to be right, or to be the best. I wrote it to entertain.

"--I did not write this book to be right, or to be the best. I wrote it to entertain."The first two are a given. The third remains to be seen. Claws are out tonight, eh Phil? Your flawed and banal prejudice has been noted and dismissed, as per our usual arrangement. (That is, if there can be anything deemed 'usual' applied to you)

Not everyone can write a book. So give it your best shot and see what happens. I disagree. Everyone can write a book; but few can write one well enough to sell.

I disagree - some people can't even read a book let alone write one. I'll concede the point. Mainly because I don't care to engage in a pointless argument.

I have written a book - as you know and like to pour distain on me for doing so, and it is selling all around the world. That only furthers my point: Absolutely ANYONE can write a book. ;D Awww don't go away mad, now. LOL

Whatever you say, Tolkien. Rofl Success is about accomplishing that which you set out to do; it's not the amount of books you sell, or the amount of notoriety you get. I plan to aim higher than to simply boast about my accomplishments. It's my sincere hope that you never stop growing as a writer, either... Despite your impressions Buzz, you haven't arrived yet. Only dead things are immune to development. That means there IS room for improvement.

...So you self-published. You really ought to stop trumpeting yourself as a best seller, then. Anyone can do that.
