Me, my girlfriend and my son went to George St in Sydney today for the ANZAC day parade. It was such a lovely day, the sun shining and patriotism on display.
It was wonderful to see the soldiers both old and young march down George St, and as many others have noted, the ANZAC tradition keeps going from strength to strength.
I do believe however believe some young Australians use the day as a time to get drunk. It isn't, and they should CEASE with their binge drinking on this day or at least wait until after the parades and services have finished.

agreed Matt. The weather yesterday was extraordinary. I wish every autumn day could be like that. Absolutely superb here.

When I was a lad in a School Cadet Band it was a honour to march down Goerge St in uniform, seeing all the happy faces and flag waving and cheers, and after the march it was custom for a some off us who liked a beer to go to Woolloomooloo Pub, albeit underage when in uniform it was socially acceptable and just the one or two and talk tom the diggers, and where I met Tom Uren who told us ANZAC Day was not about celebrating war or heroes indeed people should be remembering the carnage and waste of human life in war.....thing is they don't.

I think you mean "bear".
Personally I think that on the 100th anniversary of the original Anzac Day, on 25 April 2015, we should solemmly change "Lest We Forget" to "Rest in Peace".
For the past 100 years we haven't forgotten, and there aren't any left alive who took part in those events. Now we should respectfully give those old diggers a bit of peace.

Pim, perhaps Cas used to commemorate the day by getting her kit of?? ;-) (sorry, Cas...couldn't resist)
I like your thinking actually. I often wonder when the day will come when we will stop commemorating the day with the fervor we do at present.

World war one blighted this country, as it did many others, for decades. There should, I believe, be some recognition of Anzac day, and I certainly believe this will continue. However the way it is being exploited for the wrong reasons could cause some concern, but the media, the manipulators and the greedy seem to hold such sway that it may even become an orgy in sentimentality, which I suspect many punters would really be happy to embrace...

Do I? I'm not sure,.... I always thought "bare" was to do with weights? to "bear" means to carry to "bare" means to expose. You "bear" a burden, but you "bare" your body when you take off your clothes. So "barefoot" means "exposed foot" Kapeesh??

you're such an idiot you think every word is a noun.
"if" is not a noun unless its the name you call your cat.
You are dumb and dangerous
