Typical of the ineptitude of Labor ... more companies will now go bankrupt thanks to Juliar's devious tax. Carbon tax just doesn't add up The Daily Telegraph April 18, 2013 12:00AM JUST two years ago, treasury officials predicted global carbon prices would reach from between $29 per tonne and $61 per tonne by 2015. Those figures were crucial in determining returns from Australia's carbon tax, which by 2015 is scheduled to move to a floating, market-following price. But Climate Change Minister Greg Combet and his Labor colleagues are now in frantic recalculation mode. Instead of reaching double figures, Europe's carbon market has completely collapsed - and is set to take our government's carbon tax with it. As Combet said yesterday, in a masterful example of understatement: "In the Budget in coming weeks there'll be a revised price for the carbon price in 2015-16 and a revised revenue forecast as a result." You can bet on that, which is something you can't say about carbon markets. The collapse of Europe's Emission Trading System has left per tonne value of carbon emissions at around $4, a mere fraction of the worth anticipated by Labor and its advisers in Treasury. This means that, for all the political grief and bureaucratic complexity of the carbon tax, returns will likely be less than half the amount expected. Combet blames the global financial crisis for this debacle, but the GFC was a known factor by the time the carbon tax was signed into law last year. Now we're stuck with a carbon taxing structure that will soon move up in price, to $24 per tonne, while Europe is racing in the other direction. Besides the massive, multi-billion dollar reduction in government returns, the disparity in prices puts Australian industries at a competitive disadvantage with foreign rivals. Little wonder that Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief economist Greg Evans describes our current carbon pricing structure as "economic recklessness". One sensible solution is obvious - the carbon tax must be scrapped.

You all run off with the hoopla yet know nothing of the policy, you RW people should rise above that and make a valid point about carbon tax or any other issue. More interested in the histrionics than the reality.
It was the Howard Government in its last act created the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act in October 2007.
This act is the auditing basis of the current carbon tax. Johnnies agenda was to implement the auditing system, then start taxing.
Labor’s carbon tax would be a couple of years behind schedule if Howard had not laid the bureaucratic foundations for it. Howard set the foundations and Labor built on them....at the Greens demand, and things should have gone straight into a ETS, as Rudd would have implemented...if not for the Greens and the Coalition being politically negative on it, just spoilers, and wreckers.

Julia Gillard did not lie about Carbon Tax. When Tony Abbott quotes Julia Gillard as saying “There will be no carbon tax under the Government I lead” he is using a partial quote. Gillard continued that she would be introducing a price on carbon leading to a market based carbon trading scheme. I saw the speech and Julia Gillard definitely said there would be a carbon pricing scheme. I have been looking for the speech to find the exact wording. It is buried somewhere under reams of Abbott’s ‘Juliar’ rubbish. Can anyone help me with this one? I did find several pieces where Julia Gillard’s position was made clear such as ; JULIA Gillard says she is prepared to legislate a carbon price in the next term as part of a bold series of reforms that include school funding, education and health. In an election-eve interview with The Australian, the Prime Minister revealed she would view victory tomorrow as a mandate for a carbon price, provided the community was ready for this step. “I don’t rule out the possibility of legislating a Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, a market-based mechanism,” she said of the next parliament. “I rule out a carbon tax.” This is the strongest message Ms Gillard has sent about action on carbon pricing. The Australian, August 20, 2010 Note that the date is the day before the Federal election. Julia Gillard repeated many times before the election that there would be carbon pricing. The mistake of labour was to allow Abbott to redefine ‘Carbon Pricing’ as ‘Carbon Tax’ Abbott did what Abbott does. He took a truth, redefined the context and claimed the truth to be a lie. He renamed ‘carbon price’ a ‘carbon tax’ and then conduct the vilest of attacks on a Prime Minister Australia has ever seen. Basically every attack on the government by Abbott has been a lie, but somehow he has managed to create the fiction that Julia Gillard is a liar. The problem is that our Australian press only reports what is said. ‘Today Tony Abbott said ….’ Where are the journalist who are prepared to do some basic research and write ‘Today Tony Abbott said …. But what Julia Gillard really said was ……’ Just reporting what a person said is not journalism. Real journalism is looking at what was said, doing background checks and where someone is lying or misrepresenting they should say so. There is no use saying the news moves too fast. Journalist can slow the news cycle by coming back to an issue. If they wanted to they could say ‘Yesterday Abbott said… But on checking what was really said was…’ If that happened yesterday’s news becomes today’s news. Tony Abbott uses several techniques to tell lies. One is to tell a lie and move on to something else before what he said can be checked. There are two issues from 2012 that must not be allowed to die. The first is Abbott’s lies about the carbon tax. The second is what really happened with the Ashby attack. There is a third. Anything that Abbott says must be checked and where he is lying it must be fed straight back to him. But while Australian Media remains dominated by Rupert Murdoch the only hope of truth in politics is the blogging community. Not every Blogger is a trained journalist but until mainstream journalism lifts its game bloggers are the best hope we have. yosefalbric.wordpress.com/2013/01/01/julia-gillard-did-not-lie-about-carbon-tax/

Same thing, just another title. Either one still costs money.

They were the headlines. Farti thinks Benefits Boulevarde is supposed to a real town. Wow what insights that dickhead displays. MY MONEY? Where do you get that from, zero gravity brain? Look, I know I'm dealing with a lightweight here and we've gone over this how many times in the past!! And you are or should be aware that the article is British. Or have you forgotten? ... which could be a distinct possibility with your deteriorating cognitive skills. So I'll repeat the headline once more and put it in bold - and quotes - so you can't miss it. "Known as "Benefits Boulevarde": Gypsies’ gaudy mansions built in Romania… with YOUR money" Now that's not YOUR money literally Farti. This is a British article remember so that'd be British paxpayers' money paid out in welfare to these Romanian scammers. I've explained this to you many times before but you're a slow learner ... or just out to antagonise which I expect could be the case because surely no one - even you - could be so mentally deficient. However I expect you'll still dredge it up again next time you've been left looking like an idiot and want to try to make some pointless point known only to you ... sort of like the inmates back in the asylum. < sigh >
