It is Mormonism. They are required to wear these garments, because they believe they provide protection to them. Protection from what? Good taste? From all manner of things. I have even had a mormon tell me a few years back that the garments protected him from being electrocuted.

Just when I thought that political chatter on NTB had reached absolute rock bottom and that it had become so dumbed down that there were no further depths of imbecility, idiocy and stupidity that could be plumbed, along comes Matt to the rescue and delivers for imbeciles and morons everywhere. Yep! When it comes to cretinism and feeble-mindedness, Matt delivers in spades. So here it is folks, offered to you in all seriousness by the board's Cretin-in-Chief, the issue that Matt believes will decide the outcome of the 2012 US Presidential Election: Mitt Romney's underwear. Only on NTB ...

I thought it was a funny, interesting subject, and quite a few people saw fit to join in. What I do dislike is members being sneered at as imbeciles, cretins and morons. It would be good if this new board could do without that.

Ever wonder why the quality of journalism over the last 10 years has gone down the toilet and that people like Michelle Grattan are an endangered species? One of the better TMZ stories: SNOOP DOGG POSTS Anti-Romney Top 10 List 'He's a White N**ga'Snoop Dogg reposted a "Why I'm Not Voting for Romney" list on his Instagram page ... which is totally blowing up ... and it includes reasons like, "He's a white n**ga" ... and "He's a ho." The list -- originally created by @dragonflyjonez and was reposted by Snoop yesterday -- includes: -- "He is a white n**ga." -- "He looks like he says 'n**ga' all the time" -- "He always interrupts and talks over people like he's better than them. Bitch, I will beat the sh*t out of you." -- "He's a Mormon but he ain't got no hoes." The post also includes the top 10 reasons to vote for Obama ... including the fact that Michelle has a "fat ass." Check out the entire list below: Read more: www.tmz.com/2012/10/05/snoop-dogg-mitt-romney-top-ten-list-barack-obama-white/

You blew it with your "Alan Jones" smateing about Julia Gillard and her domestic arrangements. Plumb the depths of tabloid smut if it amuses you, but don't then think you can tut tut at other posts and sniff that you "rather hoped that on the new NTB we could do better than that." That's bullshit and you know it.

what about the skid marks in Mitts undies? How do you know whether or not Matty-boy has skid marks in his undies? Have you been trawling through Matty-boy's dirty laundy basket and sniffing his underwear?

Mitt not Matt this thread is about Mitts underdaks So....have you been trawling through Mitt's dirty laundry basket checking out his underpants? You must have been, if you know he has skid-marks in them. Did you have a good sniff while you were at it? Did you also sniff the pants that had been worn by his handbrake?

You are one weird and strange Kiwi - typical kiwi - which is why I had so many fist fights when I was there. This thread is about Mormon under garments. You're the person who posted about skid-marks in Mitt's underdaks. Which tends to imply actual knowlege of there being skid-marks in Mitt's underpants. I wonder how you got that actual knowledge? Or are you merely pissing into the wind with your posts on that particular aspect of the thread's topic?

I know they have some weird beliefs, but they also do a lot of good too. For instance, they are wonderful genealogists - and family researchers around the globe are indebted to their tireless and stringent recording of family history. The International Genealogical Index (the IGI) recorded by the LDS contains free genealogical information submitted by the Latter Day Saints. Every Mormon becomes a genealogist researching their ancestors' origins and recording them on their data base. The 1881 census was fully transcribed by an army of LDS volunteers and uploaded to the internet - and unlike any other organisation, they do not charge the public for access to these records. They also have various family history centres - one of which is up the road from me at Freshwater - where family history genealogists can search their entire genealogical data base for free. I am indebted to them.

The undies are ridiculous. The Mormon cult, equally so. I hope Obama gets back in.

Yes jody, the undies are absurd, and yes, the Mormon cult is loonacy, Hardly controversial, in fact that statement probably qualifies as the ultimate no-brainer. As always, these sorts of statments are true of any president. As corrupt as ... say ... Tricky Dicky? And yet Tricky Dicky did some good things. Obama's problem is the extent to which he raised expectations in 2008 so that his Messianic "Yes we can!" of 2008 becomes, in 2012, a self-serving apologia of "Why we couldn't!" But it's true that on his watch Americans are under more surveillance than at any time in their history. He is neither the Messiah as portrayed by his supporters, nor is he the Devil Incarnate as portrayed by the fruitcake freakshow arrayed against him. I laugh when the fruitcake right label him a godless foreign-born communist Muslim with a forged US birth certificate and with a secret terrorist agenda to place the US under Sharia law. That's why if Obama wins it won't be because of his inner qualities but because ... well ... what does a rational American voter do when faced with the choice of either Obama or the crazy bizarre zoo of religious fanatics and weirdos that have taken over the Republican Party? The bit about ancient Rome is what hooked me to respond to your post Buzz. We talk about ancient civilisations as if they were "failures". If only they'd had our wisdom and insight! If only they'd known what we know today, we'd still be living under the Roman Empire, or everybody would be still building pyramids. We speak of them like we speak of the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs in fact are the icon of the Model-That-Failed when in fact the dinosaurs as a collection of species were highly successful. If we mammals last half as long as they did we'll be doing very well. Same with Rome. Its beginning traditionally has been dated in the 700s BC and "classical" Rome fell in the 400s AD. That's 1100 years. Not a bad innings. I've read economic historians who attribute Rome's fall not to corruption or moral turpitude, which is the Edward Gibbon thesis in his Decline and Fall (and I love reading Gibbon BTW. Those guys knew how to write and they had the English language by the throat) but to the classic economic principle of "grow or die". Rome's problem was that it had reached its physical limits. To the west they were stopped by the Atlantic Ocean. To the north they were stopped by the primeval forests and the cold climate of Europe north of the Alps. To the south they were stopped by the Sahara and to the east they were stopped by the Zoroastrian culture of the Parthians which proved to be as powerful as they were. Rome's economic instrument was its legions and its economic model was the conquest of new territories which it used to settle its veterans and with the indigenous population as slave fodder for the slave markets of the Empire. In fact slavery was the energy policy of the Roman Empire and its principal economic activity. Much as the oil and coal markets probably constitute the biggest single economic activity of the modern world. Once there were no new territories to conquer and no fresh slaves to feed the markets, the economic model started to fall apart. Much as, 1500 years later, the decision by the British to ban slavery in its Empire and to use the Royal Navy to interdict slave ships on the high seas was already strangling slavery as an economic model in the southern US before the Confederacy was even formed. So what else is new?

My attitude to the office of the President of the United States is that as the leader of the free world FREE?? What a joke.....the USA has so many fascist tendencies it's not funny. For a start you only need to look at the Patriot Act and the way it stomps with jackboots all over American citizens' freedoms.

Basically, Osama won.
He may be dead, but he has managed to fùck-up the American free way of life.
They now face so many paranoid restrictions on everything where they previously had freedom from harrassment.
Osama managed to draw out the fascist tendencies in America to the detriment of its people and anyone who visits the USA.

I couldn't give a shit if the Mormons baptise me by proxy.
I know it's delusional shit (like all religion & god stuff), so if they wish to waste their time with dark-ages claptrap, then so be it.
It won't affect me.
It's just like when Matty-boy prays to thin air about somebody. I has no effect whatsoever on the person Matty-boy is praying for, so there is no need for them to be worried about Matty-boy being silly over some imaginary god in his head.
