Reef sharks are not endangered....your head is. when you unbalance nature... and world wide those fishing super trawlers are, it affects populations of carnivores who in turn eat what is left so other smaller species are affected too... it's like you can't just stop at ridding the environment of rabbits without ridding the environment of foxes and feral cats as well..... the ocean is being over fished...

The sharks have more right to the fish than people do.

The sharks have more right to the fish than people do. So do seals and they're starving and disappearing.

world wide seals are doing pretty well though Caskur. You made it sound like the sharks are the main problem......sounds more like humans are the biggest issue as usual.

It was human hunting that decimated the seal population, millions of sharks are killed each year a high percentage just for their fins.
While Marine Parks help maintain our relative healthy fisheries, living on the coast I see it is the white two legged sharks who are out black market fishing at every opportunity, that are a problem to fish resources ...many are on the dole or a disability pension yet still have towing vehicles for their boats...white honkie pirates...yet no whinging about these people just asylum seekers...indeed their right to black market fish is advocated by the fishers and shooters party that renders support to the conservative governments.

I agree about humans hunting but that doesn't happen in Australia. Do you remember when they all got seal distemper? That reduced their numbers considerably... and naturally, the rubbish thrown in ocean is another culprit... then you have the shark predators as well.

where going to lose the middle sized animals if we aren't careful. The large predators are having a field day on smaller species... one day not too far away, all that is going to left are the pests in the environment.

Orcas eat seal too and lots of them...perhaps we should get rid of those too :/ I adore seals and wont watch them be eaten on the documentaries I watch....however, they are food for some other creatures and that is nature. I still remember being kissed on the cheek by a seal years back at Seaworld my reward for giving him a disgusting squid......an incredibly experience but geez he smelt bad. Not into fishy smells at all.

There are no orcas in Oz are there?
Seals are eaten by the polar bears too. But all that happens North of the equator.
You're not getting the point although I am pretty sure I'm making it clearly.

Caskur orcas hunt seals closer to us than you think. The antarctic is a favourite hunting ground for seals and penguins.

Sharks are beautiful and amazing creatures. It is not rational to hate them and want to kill them.

Sharks are integral part of the marine environment....humans raping and pillaging the seas are not.

No...I have better things to do than watch those type of shows.
so will you answer about orcas and being seen on the west coast of Oz?

There show pointed out that where there once was 2,000,000 seals, there are now 40,000... they're threatened...
Sharks are contributing...
anyone who has ever kept a tank full of mixed species knows very well that one by one they're pecked off until the last fish standing... that is why within a generation you won't see what were seeing today... species are going to be lost. It'll be the middle sized species we all love...
Sharks have no business chasing the shoals of bait fish let alone hundreds of them... the bait fish are for the smaller species... dolphins, seagulls, cormorants, pelicans, seals, penguins... in turn, the shark diet are the larger sea mammals, seals, dead whales, sick and slow moving fish.

I don't see hundreds of them chasing bait fish.... The facts are, seals are threatened and you claimed they weren't!
