I've never seen that tree around. It looks similar to a poincettia with the shape of the leaves and red stalks. Thanks to Grim's identification I looked it up being a gardener and fairly keen ... it's a native rainforest tree also known as the Queensland poplar. That could prove a problem because rainforest trees grow pretty big. This one could reach 8 metres. A bit like my lillypilly which I thought would remain small and is now a towering mass which will have to be removed.  But it does look kinda nice ...  |

mind you, my olives are WAY bigger than I anticipated, big bushy bastard it is...was knee high and diameter of my small finger when I bought it.

Then I guess you will be taking to it with the axe? But I sort of like the olive tree. My niece and nephews' family have an olive grove on their property in the Barrington Tops. My niece was going to ride her horse through the olive grove to her wedding on the property. It would have looked lovely but it was a stinking hot day so they shelved those plans.
Not sure what you can do with one olive tree unless you like eating olives which I don't.

Oh, no, I wont be taking the olive tree down except pruning it, which it is in fact well due for but I wasnt game this year because unlike last year when it was bare, this year it has fruit on it. So I thought pruning it might shock it and f*** the olives up again. Yes, I like olives, and I do harvest them and pickle them, the bloke across the road showed me a simple pickling method, I have plenty of cheap salt here, and have already done them year b4 last....they werent quite as good as top-brand bought olives in a jar, but they were not bad either. Yes, I like them, have a generous handfull typically with pasta dishes.. another good attribute of them apart from being a nice decorative and edible if youre willing to go to the trouble of preparing them, is that being desert semi-desert plants, they effectively need no watering. That Bleeding Heart /Poplar thing, im wondering if it will have any imapct with its roots etc, on the adjacent fence or pathway? 8 metres, Christ..wonder wtf the seed for that came from, some bird must have eaten the fruit off one elsewhere, and shat them out here.. |

You'll find tree is a type of Tilia' a Linden or Lime tree possible 'Petiolaris'...a usefull wood tree and dried flowers and bracts make a tea.
