So … the god delusion is incapable of saving its own property…

Diarrhoea still bothering you KTJ? Were you or perhaps some remote ancestor of yours in the crowd in Matthew 27:42 ? Subsequent history shows that they kinda missed an important point. As you do.

That 800-year-old wood burns really well. If you actually cracked the spine of that book you so often criticise, you'd know the Church is the people, not the building.

Four posts. It took four posts for the Jew baiting/Jew hating fuck knuckle to turn a thread (which he'd started!) on the Notre Dame cathedral disaster into an anti Semitic dog whistle.

I didn't drag up the topic of Jerusalem's Al-Asqa Mosque. Somebody else did.
But seeing as somebody else added that topic to this thread, it is right and proper to comment about that “other” fire the god delusion failed to prevent.
And as Jewish extremists have clearly stated they want to see that mosque destroyed, one only needs to “join the dots” to reach a logical conclusion.

You're right Occam. I haven't commented much on the Notre Dame catastrophe beyond responding to the knuckle dragger's Jew hating dog whistle on this thread for several reasons. As someone who has spent extended periods living and working in France and who speaks the language, I'm very aware of the spiritual, cultural. historical and social importance of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. I've visited it, prayed in it, walked past it and seen it bathed in sunshine and covered in snow. This is the building where de Gaulle, having walked through Paris in 1944, proclaimed its liberation from German occupation. Why that cathedral? Ask the Parisians. It's the cathedral where Napoleon, having got the Pope to travel there from Rome to crown him Emperor, took the crown from the Pope's hands as the Pope went to place it on his head and did it himself. The message was clear: "I don't need the Church to make me Emperor. I don't owe you anything", thus turning the premier icon of French Catholicism into a symbol of the separation of church and state. I'm quite devastated by the fire disaster and I didn't want to get into some tasteless exchange with the trolls about their philistine sneers of "god delusion". The fact that they so utterly miss the point is their problem.
It's these sorts of heart wrenching disasters and crises that bring out the best in people and from what I've observed the fire has showcased the people of Paris at their best. The fact that nobody died in the fire, given that there was a lot going on inside the cathedral when the fire took hold, is a miracle. The evacuation happened and nobody got hurt. I take my hat off to the first responders, the fire fighters, who at great personal risk saved the building from complete destruction. They are the heroes of the disaster. But it was the prayerful response of the people of Paris that was awe-inspiring. They stood there in horrified silence and then began singing hymns. It's a wonderful example of how adversity can bring people together. That's the other miracle. The rest is bullshit. Macron's grandiose promise to have it rebuilt in 5 years is self-serving rubbish which is more about the 2024 Paris Olympics than about the cathedral itself.
It took 200 years to build that cathedral. It'll take a large part of this century to restore it. But Macron's "promise" is just a politician's froth & bubble and pales in comparison with the heroism of the firefighters and the prayers and hymns of the people of Paris. KTJs philistinism just exposes him as the Quasimodo of the board and that's what I'll call him from now on.
