A typical response from Richo #25. Ps ... would you please learn how to copy and paste an article without all the irrelevant data as well?? I would have thought that would be quite easy for a self-professed IT "expert" such as you try to present yourself. You're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel now, aren't you Stellar. I mean really, you're the last one to talk. You profess to be a 'Professional', yet when it comes to offering, what you claim to be 'Fact', you're far from the sort. A professional would never resort to making generalizations and calling them 'Fact' as you do. A professional, in an industry as narrow as yours (Mental Health) would never be as blase as you are in where you work and who your patients are as you. You do understand the public nature of a forum as this, don't you ? You do have some inkling how easy it is to narrow down who you work for, just from making obvious deductions based on your own posts, surely ? Well, the topic at hand is Lamings Racism, as well as that as those who make sweeping generalizations about certain communities. As you do, and as Tam did. There's no 'moral equivalence' either. Went it comes to Mindless and violent, anti-social conduct, middle-class youths, from 'nice' private schools are very often the worst offenders. Funny how over privilege can spoil the child, don't you think ? All stirred up by the Tabloid Media, and silly immature politicians. But, I'll tell you something, until that Laming idiot made those puerile Comments, I had never heard of this story. Then again, I'm not one to watch bogan, Tabloid Trash TV, like Today Tonite/A current Affair. However, I do believe that your a bit of a fan. Yes if some of those people are unemployed, then it would be great if they had jobs to go to. How about we address the systemic problems that put barriers up against these people finding meaningful employment, huh Stellar ? Or would that require bigots like you to address your prejudices too much ? I'm certain the poor people of Kew, who have to put up with the annual rampage of Xavier, Trinity, and Carey yr 12 students on their beak ups, wouldn't find it hard drawing the equivalence. Unlike you, they have experience on just how anti-social the privileged can act. So, I cutting close to the bone eh Stellar ? Don't like it when your beloved 'White-Flight Middle Class' is shown to be just as bigger bogans as the 'Riff-Raff' you despise. Eh Hypocrite ? I did address the issue, it's not my fault if you have a problem and lack basic comprehension skills And my dear old Dad loves to say that Money cant buy class, as you so amply prove. WRONG !!!! The evidence shows nothing of the sort, then again, thats evidence, not some 'My S-I=L's Cousins Boyfriend' hearsay, that you love to indulge in and what is the stock in trade, of those trashy Tabloid 'News Affairs' Tv Shows that you so love to get your 'facts' from.

I don't generalise because I don't think it is fair, but the third highest demographic inside the Immigration Detention Network (in terms of workers) are Islanders, of which Samoans and Tongans are probably just ahead of the Maori's if you were to split it down any further. (for the record, Poms lead the field, with Aussies second).
I've never seen the behaviour you speak of amongst my Islander colleagues Stellar, never, we have Islanders in upper management positions. middle management and line workers and the only complaint I could make about them is that sometimes it can be a pain in the arse having to remember how to spell their names on paperwork.
We also have a fair smattering of Africans, and once again they are totally professional in their approach to the job and thorough in their execution of their tasks. Indeed, in my line of work you know when the heads are worried that a job might be "difficult", the vehicle heading out to the job is full of Islanders.
Incidently, our shift times start at 0600 and 1800, I've never seen any Islanders mooching in nonchalantly at 0800.
Go out West and you see the mines are full of Islanders, somehow I don't think you'll last too long out there if you habitually turn up late for work or have a casual approach to your duties.
Where on earth do you come up with these idiotic preconceptions about other races Stellar?

Well, the topic at hand is Lamings Racism First I've heard! No one here (in Qld in general or in Woodridge) has linked his cormments to racism. Simply because his comments had nothing to do with race. It was about the notoriety of the area having very high unemployment. Nothing to do with race.

Where on earth do you come up with these idiotic preconceptions about other races Stellar? Probably from the dept. of immigration which has statistics on the appalling non participation of certain ethnicities in the work force ;D Of course if you just use lefty logic instead one person out of one hundred that shows a great work ethic is representative of the whole bunch

Really Garfield? DIAC has such statistics? I think you've gotten yourself a little confused, DIAC would not have such statistics, such statistics if they exist for the general population of immigrants entering this country would be held by Centerlink.
There was a report a couple of years ago that the papers trumpeted as stating that 80% of asylum seekers were still unemployed after 10 years. A detailed look at their Data (which came from Centerlink) showed that the actual figure of people unemployed was less then 1/4 of what the headlines stated, and when you take into account that a very high percentage of the people who are accepted for resettlement here have either significant physical injuries or have undergone serious trauma, and when you factor in the english language difficulties faced by many immigrants I think it is understandable why the actual number of unemployed amongst Asylum Seekers is about 3 times that of the general population.
But that aside, Stellar claimed that her smear of the entire samoan and Tongan population in Australia was due to her personal experience. So in other words she saw an Islander once.

Bloody typical, would it be too much to expect our 'Law Enforcers' to know better ? An Aboriginal family at the centre of violent racial clashes with Pacific Islanders south of Brisbane says police are taunting them. Aboriginal community leader Paul Butterworth says a peaceful resolution has been achieved after days of racial feuds in the Logan suburb of Woodridge. On Wednesday . But Mr Butterworth says police officers drove past the family's house, taunting them as they packed their belongings to move to the Gold Coast. He says the reason the violence broke out in the first place was a police failure to take their complaints seriously. Mr Butterworth says the officers appeared to be siding with the islanders. On Wednesday afternoon, police fined Mr Butterworth's 18-year-old nephew $300 for threatening behaviour and public nuisance after he wielded a steel pole on Tuesday. Mr Butterworth says the fine is ridiculous given everybody had been threatening each other with dangerous weapons for the past four days. He says both rival groups want to put the matter to rest. "We've called for peace, we've made that decision for peace with each other and move forward," Mr Butterworth said. "They just want to get out of the area because all they want to do is live their life, they don't want to be caught up in the politics or judgments going on here." He wants the Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) to investigate the actions of police. Mr Butterworth says media reports about the conflict have also been unhelpful. "We've been exploited on the news, we've been exploited in the papers," he said. "When we look at the news this morning, when we look at the papers this morning, you only see us people in the papers and stuff, bad things about our people. "And yet all this time it was our people trying to call for peace." Premier Campbell Newman says the cost to relocate the family is minimal. He says it is an isolated incident between certain individuals and families. "I want to stress again, as I've been saying all along, the people involved should cool it. They must not break the law," he said. "If they break the law, people will be subjected to the full court process. "Overall, it needs to be viewed in context that Logan is a fantastic community." au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/15854503/claims-police-taunted-family-in-racial-feud/

The self-proclaimed techie "expert" is on the defensive again, lol. Can't answer the questions so instead goes on the attack ... and as a belligerent and obnoxious combatant he predictably takes the "first line of defence is attack" route.
Well Richo, you're nothing more than a turd and I have no interest in engaging with you in an endless tit-for-tat exchange where you constantly air your prejudices and loathing for "conservatives." You might have the time but I don't!
But if you wish to carry on regardless I have a suggestion ... why don't you retire to your irrelevant and torpid board otr and have a group hug and mutual wanking session.

Sorry to disillusion you there Bender with your attempted putdown "saw an Islander once."
I worked in a business that employed - at one time or another - virtually every Tongan and Maori on the peninsula in our factory. I did not mention Samoans. And of course there were all the Islanders who made a special trip from other parts of Sydney with their Centrelink obligation cards, expecting us to sign them stating that they had "applied" for a position at our factory. The boss refused because those "applications" were totally dodgy and they had no desire to work at all. Thanks to John Howard, the govt changed all that further down the track and Nzers were no longer entitled to Centrelink benefits.
My experience is valid. Production was help up on so many occasions, the boss had to get them in on Saturdays to catch up, which didn't go down well I can assure you.

Stellar as far back as 1992 (possibly further but I know for a fact that it was occuring in 1992) New Zealanders coming here did not automatically get the dole, but had to reside here for at least a year before they could claim benefits.
Thanks to John Howard?
Stellar you posted a diatribe that labelled every Islander as lazy, unreliable and pretty much good for nothing. You based that blanket assessment on a job held years and years ago in which your boss apparently had the shonkiest hiring practices one could imagine (remember you told us that DIMIA used to conduct regular compliance raids to weed out the apparent multitudes of illegal immigrants that your boss used to hire).
Have you considered that the problem isn't with the ethnicities that you complain constantly about, the problem was with the clearly substandard hiring and vetting practices of your employer?
It kind of makes sense, after all, he employed you.......

Now now people its getting a tad personal....cool it down and sledge but don't get nasty. Stellar surely you have to realize you are tarring Islanders (and other demographic in your line of sight) with the same brush you consider all to be lazy is not fact but nonsense and racist ....and your comment is treated as such, poorly evaluated and bigotry. Salem ...you are mistaken "bullshit banana's" you'll find is one of my lines, it's not Darjeeling's... the expression came from cattle farmers who feed their cattle banana's given by local growers where the banana's are not fit for market ...hence bullshit bananas....I use it here because its appropriate in describing RW commentary...

It is a running joke about people in Logan not working. His comment had ZILCH to do with race. If you put your brain into gear, for once, before rushing to attack you'd realise this.
