Zachary Rolfe speaks after not-guilty verdict

Northern Territory police officer Zachary Rolfe has spoken outside court after being found not guilty of the murder of Kumanjayi Walker.

“Obviously I think that was the right decision to make but a lot of people are hurting today, including Kumanjayi’s family. I’m going to leave this space for them,” he said.

After five weeks of evidence from more than 40 witnesses, the Supreme Court jury of seven men and five women returned its verdict this afternoon after deliberating for less than a day.

Constable Rolfe was charged with murder, manslaughter and engaging in a violent act causing death after he fatally shot Mr Walker during an attempt at arrest.

The jury acquitted him on all charges.

Good result. If Police are going to have to worry about the usual suspects Woke Left idiots every time they move, then it will be difficult to perform their work.

It is already difficult to do their job. The drug and alcohol problem fuels them and Australia if FULL of metamorons.

I am so, so glad the charges were aquitted.

Will it stop the aggression in that particular group though? Well nothing has worked for them so far, so sadly they are a lost cause.

And somebody needs to call them out....

A good decision. Police have a difficult enough job without being hammered by the Abos and woke brigade when something like this occurs. That officer did not willingly take a life and police are not murderers.  (I'll make an exception for Roger Rogerson here.)  But when you're in a situation like that, the adrenaline kicks in and you're fighting to save your partner's life. It's something ordinary people never have to experience.



The difference is the vast majority of Australians do not get on the offensive every time police have to take action against some criminal breaking the law.  And they don't care whether that criminal is black, white or brindle.  We actually expect them to do everything they have to and use whatever force is necessary. But there are two exceptions to this - the Abos who believe every Abo is innocent and no matter what the charge, it's all whitie's fault so they should never be arrested and incarcerated. And the mussos who don't want police interfering in their gang wars. They refuse to speak to police whenever there are murders or other criminal acts in their community because they carry out their own acts of vengeance and retribution.

At the end of the day, all police expect to come home to their families after their shift.  It doesn't always happen but in this case it did.

I think it was always going to be very difficult to prosecute a case where even the prosecution stipulates that the first shot fired in an unlawful killing was fired legitimately and then 2.6 seconds after that and a further half a second following that, two subsequent shots fired were done so unlawfully.

It beggars beliefs that anyone could reasonably expect a person to be able to react, reassess and change their actions under such heightened circumstances in such a short period of time.

Having said that, evidence that was produced during the trial (and will subsequently be reintroduced during the upcoming coronial inquest) exposed a series of events that led up to Mr Walker's shooting that almost ensured that something bad was going to happen.

Disregarding the Operational Plan that had been put in place and seeking out Mr Walker. And lastly in his decision making process in firing the 2nd and 3rd shots into Mr Walker. Constable Rolfe put his colleague in a great deal of danger by firing two rounds into Mr Walkers side whilst his colleague was on top of him.

There were questions raised as to whether both Officers should have withdrawn and contained the situation until the other Officers present could assist and the argument which I think is fair is that Constable Rolfe had it in his mind as soon as they left the police station that if Mr Walker made any threatening action towards them he was going to shoot him. He intimated this to other Officers when they were watching the bodycam footage of Mr Walker threatening other Officers with an Axe.

In any event, the jury has made its decision and they heard all the evidence. It was always going to be very hard to prove him guilty of murder, and the fact that he had a legal defence of being a police officer acting in the execution of his duty made it near impossible to convict him of the alternate charges proffered, that of manslaughter, and of unlawfully causing death.

If police cannot arm themselves entering communities when drug and alcohol fueled violence occurs, they won't go into them when domestic violence is being committed.

Women and children will die but even worse than death is the brain injury getting hit over the head by aggressive drunks. People having brain injury inflicted on them for life when it's 100% avoidable and it costs our society.

Sadly people aren't brave enough to stand up and tackle alcohol abusers. It goes on everywhere in all cultures.

The aboriginal elder man SCREAMING AGGRESSION saying he wants police unarmed when attending his community was wayyyyy out of line in my opinion... Ask the regular aboriginal women and children if they want that.

I hope a strong message was sent... don't stab cops with sharp intruments or you will die... If we don't watch out we are going to end up like America. We have got to treat people EQUALLY and treating aboriginals like special little petals that can't help themselves is not being treated equally... Many foreign blacks have come here and spoke the truth to them, Eartha Kitt being one.
