Given that the thinking here is that all bushfires are created by fire bugs so what criminal vandals are causing all the record once on 100 year floods that is happening every ten years....has to be China right...?

That is not "the thinking" on here. I think you're just trying to be provocative. We're a "land of sweeping ranges, of droughts and flooding rains." The impact is more severe in this day and age because of the numbers of people being impacted. There is too much human activity, too many environmental resources being used by too many humans, too many massive ecological footprints by the elites of this world who lecture the rest of us about our miniscule footprints. Maybe those who travel by air should be charged correspondingly higher prices for each and every airflight they take? The excess in fares would go into a climate change fund. And btw, the climate has always been changing. As for the bushfires, we've always needed them. How else will our native plants regenerate? If you've ever worked in the horticulture industry, you would be surprised what goes on. The heat of the hothouses to germinate those Aussie seeds is torture to work in. Because I've done it. And in mid summer you couldn't spend more than 10 minutes in those places. While greenhouse workers actually pump extra carbon dioxide into the greenhouses to make the plants grow bigger and stronger!! The problem will always be the numbers of clamouring humans on this earth. Especially the ones who think their environmental footprint doesn't count.

Nothing to do with climate change and pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere...it all a myth...its a 1 in 1,000 year flood event...that's happening every 10 years....yeah right.

It's Trumps fault for allowing idiots to build on floodplains Good thing the flood is slowing down the pyromaniacs.

Floods inland = floodplains. Sorry, but when I saw flood planes ... my quirky sense of humour went off.

The dreadful flood must upset the climate change alarmists. They cannot run around screaming about drought now.
Perth has had its hottest summer EVER. 13 days over 40 Celsius and a month of days over 35 Celsius.
It hasn't rained for 2 months...yesterdays .2 of a mil doesn't count..

Oh I wish we could give you some of our rain!! It rains mostly during the night but everything is so wet outside. The seas were huge down at the beach. The Manly ferry crossing The Heads is not for the faint-hearted at the moment. It's just dull and damp and depressing outside.

Palashay said it rained 1 or 2 Sydney harbours worth of water... (maybe 3) put it this way... Noah would have a run for his money. Palashay was on the verge of ordering water restrictions.

Blinded by the conservative orchestrated climate denial you girls still cannot admit to the increasing and rising effects of climate change....so divert to flood plains and disassociate yourselves from the reality climate change is happening and the record rainfall events are just a flood plain issue. Brisbane was built on a flood plain, as was Lismore, Roma, Perth or in short anywhere that was built next to a river is building on a flood plain, funny enough the pioneers of old thought having access to water was a good thing... using your logic humans should have built as far away from rivers as possible coz they are on flood plains.. A 1 in 100 year record flood with minor and major flooding in between is something that people have learnt to live with over the years. Now when 1 in 100 year floods are happening every 10 years the people cannot cope with this reality and the dumbarse pollies with this record flood event that is beating the 1 in 100 year 1974 record flood are saying its a 1 in 1,000 year flood event, implying to the people its not going to happen again for a long while....no wukkers just mop up and carry on regardless, while they have no contingency plans to deal with ever increasing flood weather events in a la Nina climate, just as they have no plans to deal with long prolonged droughts in a el Nino climate...just blame fire bugs and she'll be right, climate change is not happening. So what does the frothing at the mouth RW focus on, deep state conspiracies, cancel culture, Trumps a great bloke etc etc etc...pea brain stuff its no wonder the no plan conservatives have been able to get away with their bullshit..

you ES people continally bitch, bitch and bitch without let up.... you bitched for YEARS about the drought...even had telethons for farmers and now you've got a flood...your water table is too high BECAUSE YOU CLEARED THE LAND OF TREES.... so tough shit... build taller foundations on low lying land and stop felling trees.
maybe the land just doesn't want you there and is shoving you off it.

Blinded by the conservative orchestrated climate denial you girls still cannot admit to the increasing and rising effects of climate change....so divert to flood plains and disassociate yourselves from the reality climate change is happening and the record rainfall events are just a flood plain issue. You know Ponto, I think you have serious problems with comprehension. No one has denied climate change - how many times must we remind you that the world's climate has been in constant change since the beginning of time! Now back in 2007, your hero Prof Tim Flannery, Chief Climate Commissioner and Australian of the Year made this bizarre claim whilst hyping the threat to Australia from global warming - Even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and river systems.Back then, Flannery warned climate change will impact on Australia to the point where Sydney can expect to receive 60 per cent less rainfall than it does at present. Even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems, and that's a real worry for the people in the bush, he said. Now how wrong could he be!! On the basis of Flannery's predictions, the then Labor govt commissioned the biggest white elephant mega infrustructure ever built - the Kurnell desalination plant. This plant costs $500,000 a day just to keep it in mothballs! And we residents have the cost tacked onto our water rates. But who knows? We might need it in the future because the climate's always changing, isn't it. One thing I do know. And that is - this land cannot sustain a huge population! And that was always Rudd's intention - a BIG Australia! But totally unsustainable. Now isn't that what we've always been saying all along? But govts - both Lib AND Lab are not listening. Neither is big business. And that's the whole problem.

Hold it there! "We" didn't do anything. We are all just pawns. We have no say in anything. Trying to throw the blame at us is not going to help at all. Immigrants will always choose to live in Sydney or Melbourne. And somehow they've got to be housed. Do you really think people like me are happy to see our land destroyed by unsustainable populations?

Our state is now building on floodplains. I've seen it rain in our summer for 3 days straight (1983-84) and flood waters were a few inches deep.. We've had Moore River flood (twice) and the Erwin River flood and pretty bad flooding in the Kimberlie this season. South Australia had a flood that wiped out train tracks that deliver food to WA,... our selves are lowly stocked at the moment.
When we do get a freak weather system in the future at some stage, those new suburbs will go under... NOTHNG like Queensland or NSW catastrophe and I will not feel sorry for them because they built on dried up salt lakes. I say if it was once a salt lake, it is going to be a salt lake again one day. It isn't rocket science.
Once some internet nerd cursed people living in the southern states of the USA prone to cyclones and I thought he was terrible for saying wretched things about the flood victims but now I am seeing his point.
If you know you are in a tricky area, don't buy there.
My brother and uncle live on the Indian Ocean...sure it's lovely but one decent tidal wave my inheritances will be washed away. I saw what happened in Indonesia with the Tsunami and that put me off living on the coast. I live 5 minutes from the coast on a STEEP hill. The only thing that'll get me is an earthquake.

I live on a floodplain. All the northern beaches have flood plains "on the flat" - especially if they have lagoons. There are several lagoons and Manly lagoon and dam do flood from time to time - maybe once every 20 years. The local govt has done enormous work to mitigate flood damage. When I first moved here, the street flooded a few weeks before and residents were saying you could swim in it! That was 34 years ago. I've only experienced one other flooding from Manly lagoon. But this flooding is not severe. Apparently only 77 houses are affected according to the council. The houses in our street that were affected are now safe. There are a few streets that can be inundated by water but it is never more than 10 to 15 centimetres at the most and that would only affect a couple of houses in the the lower part of the street. Flash floods are the problem with water coming down the hills. So we get water from up the top on Sydney Road as it drains down to the lagoon and ocean. Which is what water does. Fortunately, although our address is "on the flat" ... our properties are part way up the hill. So we never get flooded. Although we get water passing through. So at the moment it's wet and damp in the backyard and the wooden retaining walls are sodden. But the sun is out! There are blue skies! Hooray! Unfortunately it's not gonna stay that way.

Still cannot say human anthropological made 'climate change' from excessive greenhouse gases which is responsible for the increasing weather extremes which was the point Flannery was making not only in record breaking long droughts which will come again there will be obvious water shortages. Long droughts and big floods....go that.
Still blaming Rudd and Labor for record immigration levels the coalition brought in and you say I have comprehension issues...you create alt truths and cannot be swayed to what is the actual reality...like all the RW here thinking 'deep state' is a real thing.
It is Perrottet who wants a Sydney population level of 8mill and why the want a higher Warragamba dam so they can build on 'flood plains'.
Conservative to the bootstraps...blessed be the ignorant or the coalition would be dead in the water a forgotten page in history as political dinosaur's.

Rudd orchestrated the biggest immigration scam ever with his "educational" visas. Indians poured into the country en masse from that one right after he was elected. All it took was a 3 month cooking course and then they wouldn't go home. They demanded temporary visas and Rudd relented. None of them went home. I will only vote for a party that will be in control and not one that backs down to pressure from wanna be immigrants. Because all of the bastards want to live in Sydney. Sydney is FULL UP!! Got that!
