Good riddance to 2021 - an annus horribilis. I couldn't agree more.

Yep, it's been a train wreck of a year! I'm glad to see the back of it. Meanwhile we have many many more infected with Covid but fortunately they're not ending up in the ICU. But what of the Sydney fireworks!! Naturally enough the ABC turned it into a political "Welcome to Country" theme which featured Abo activists at the "family friendly" 9 pm children's fireworks display. This was disgraceful but not unexpected - trying to brainwash kids. It's something the woke ABC never misses the chance to promote. “A smoking ceremony [aboard] Tribal Warrior gets our New Year’s Eve celebrations underway. The smoking ceremony pays respect to the Traditional Custodians of the land, past and present, and welcomes visitors onto Gadigal land.” “We are taking over one of the most famous icons on the planet,” he said, describing the Sydney Harbour Bridge as “an icon that was never consulted amongst either the Gadigal or Cammeray people”. WTF! From News.com ... The 9pm fireworks were set to an Indigenous-themed electronic soundtrack, broken into two parts – the first honouring First Nations cultures of the mainland and the second part honouring those from the Torres Strait Islands. The fireworks were followed by a performance from rap duo Barkaa and Dobby of their 2020 song “I Can’t Breathe”, which called for justice for the 438 Indigenous people who died in police custody. “White Australia has a Blak future,” the pair rapped onstage, wearing t-shirts with the words “BLM” and “I Can’t Breathe”, a reference to the death of George Floyd. Many pointed out that the City of Sydney, not the ABC, runs the fireworks show. However the City of Sydney tweeted “This is, and always will be, Gadigal land.” All I can say is, how about all those City of Sydney counsellors, not to mention all those board members of the ABC, giving their homes and land back to the Abos! If they believe we've stolen their land, then it would be only fitting that they make this gesture to address some of the "wrongs" they keep harping about. If they did, I might even concede that they are genuine. But of course that will never happen.

I just roll my eyes when the ABC mentions which tribal land they are broadcasting from each day. Such a woke little team. Token gay weather presenter, token disabled Adelaide reporter, and News Breakfast these days looks like it is coming from Indonesia and/or Singapore.

True enough! I never watch "their" ABC - except for Australian Story and Four Corners. And I loved Home Delivery with Julia Zemiro. I'm currently watching some reruns where she interviewed Germaine Greer and Kate McGregor. Julia is a great interviewer and brings out the real personality of her interviewees. I hope to see the rerun of Brian Cox. This is quality TV and not political.

The ABC's attempt at diversity in its presenters is almost comical - they have gone so far to try to tick every box.

Yes it's now 2022.
But consider 1922, and 1822 had massive plague outbreaks.
...Well goodnight folks, sleep well.
