Amen.
Unlock God's supply for your everyday needs. I am unsure why people feel as if it is wrong to ask Jesus to bless them with prosperity. Because the alternative is to ask to be poor and that definitely is not what Jesus wants for us.

A very viable life view Matte - especially if you are willing to carefully overlook Jesus example and teaching.

A very viable life view Matte - especially if you are willing to carefully overlook Jesus example and teaching. So what are we to pray for? Pray for poverty or pray for prosperity?

Pray for … forgiveness? Grace? To be a better person?
Personally I like the prayer of St Augustine who’d led a dissolute life and had enjoyed it … “Lord make me virtuous, but not yet!”

When you pray, pray like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I was taught to say it like this as a kid:
Onze Vader, die in de hemel zijt, uw naam worde geheiligd, uw rijk kome, uw wil geschiede op aarde zoals in de hemel. Geef ons heden ons dagelijks brood en vergeef ons onze schulden, zoals wij anderen hun schuld vergeven en leid ons niet in bekoring maar verlos ons van het kwade Amen

I once went to a very ancient pre-gothic Romanesque church in Aachen, Germany, because I wanted to see an exhibition of relics from the reign of Charlemagne - Aachen had been his capital - and I blundered into a Mass that was being celebrated. The entire congregation was piously intoning the Lord’s Prayer - in German of course because … go figure! There’s something deeply majestic about liturgical German being intoned by a church full of devout Germans. I was spellbound and joined in. Here’s the text in German:
Vater Unser im Himmel, Geheiligt werde Dein Name, Dein Reich komme, Dein Wille geschehe, wie im Himmel so auf Erden. Unser tägliches Brot gib uns heute. Und vergib uns unsere Schuld, wie auch wir vergeben unseren Schuldigern. Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung, sondern erlöse uns von dem Bösen. Denn Dein ist das Reich und die Kraft und die Herrlichkeit in Ewigkeit.
It’s the Protestant version. The Dutch version I posted is the Catholic version. Catholics don’t add the “for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory” bit at the end.

This one’s very cool. It’s in the English of King Alfred the Great’s day which was 1200 years ago. The old prayer has come a long way since then which just goes to show just how ancient it is and how universal …
The Lord’s Prayer in Old English
Fæder ure þu þe eart on heofonum; Si þin nama gehalgod to becume þin rice gewurþe ðin willa on eorðan swa swa on heofonum. urne gedæghwamlican hlaf syle us todæg and forgyf us ure gyltas swa swa we forgyfað urum gyltendum and ne gelæd þu us on costnunge ac alys us of yfele soþlice

Very nice Matte - but it seems more a performance than a prayer.

Prosperity gospel is false teaching. Jesus didn't live to be rich- neither should you!
The servant is not greater than the master. Judas pursued money, it didn't end well for him.

I love what you just posted Occam and would add that the flip side is true as well - at least in secular terms: the master is not greater than the servant.
In Down Under terms we take it even further down the path of Crocodile Dundee irreverence: not only is Jack as good as his master, he’s probably also a darned sight better.
Which kinda explains why we down here can be ornery buggers. If you’re female you’ll get called “love” and if you’re a “bloke” (guy to you) you get called “mate”. There’s no escape. If Jesus had exercised his ministry in Sydney or Melbourne or Alice Springs the gospels would have been couched in very different terms!

Very nice Matte - but it seems more a performance than a prayer. Of course it is a performance. But it is totally possible to worship the Lord through song. I have seen people become overwhelmed by the spirit as they sing to the Lord. Literally being overcome, collapsing on the ground.

A very viable life view Matte - especially if you are willing to carefully overlook Jesus example and teaching. So what are we to pray for? Pray for poverty or pray for prosperity? Why not pray for sufficiency, and contentment for what we have?
