Is it dull and overcast Volk? Have you got a breeze? Not overcast Stellar, I'd describe it as 50% broken cloud cover, very light breeze in tree tops, not at ground level.

I went down to the front courtyard and yes, it's pretty warm down there but more so when you're in full sun. However as I said it's very overcast so we're not getting the full rays and heat, fortunately. Still you usually get the worst around 2 or 3 pm. Will see then but I'll be at work and staying inside.

Yeah, wind's picking up here. But still cool as a cucumber inside. Will have the aircon on in the car though.

I have a generator but it hasn't been started in a while. :/ Don't want to lose power today....Dan would not cope with the heat at all. Jody, I once heard a very old woman on talk back radio tell people how she coped in extreme heat. she used hot water bottles and froze the water in them... then put her feet on them. you should do something like that just in case the power does go off.

all the aussie animals perishing in fires makes me sick to my stomach... poor things. people get warnings, critters don't. Thats what upsets me most. Animals like koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, possums, birds etc dying. Of course I feel sorry for people that lose their homes and for the occasional loss of life, but its truly sad for our wildlife. I have the image of the koala thirstily drinking water from a firefighter's bottle seared into my mind forever.

Losing homes is worse than tough, but losing what little wildlife we have left is really tragic.
I was sick at the thought the ES were going to be fired down again.
donate to vets I guess is the best option!...

I saw a thing on wombats starving on ABC 24 recently. There is a woman trying to run around doing food drops. There is a website donated to the subject.
you know, over the years, if it hadn't been for carers there'd be no Aussie animals left.
HEAPS of species became extinct last century globally!

The one thing that annoys me is the news that police are checking up on known arsonists!! Really! Any known arsonists should be locked up under the circumstances, especially until the fire hazard is over.
No Just leave them in the gentle hands of the CFS /CFA/ RFS etc for 24 hours preferably on days like to day. Leave them chained to a gum treee for the duration. Let them shit themselves as the wind rips thru the trees. Let them hope there isn't a fire storm coming their way. Let them hope the guys & gals from the CFS don't forget to free them after the risk has gone (Like sayin May 2020).
And before any one tells me I am just a little bitter on this topic, may I tell that a fire (the 10th in 3 years) was lit by some F...wit on Sunday evening in MY road at Blewitt Springs SA. Mind you my current thinking is the one on New Years Day (about 200mts from Sunday night's effort ) & the Sunday night fire are in my opinion both copy cat efforts by a second idiot. The other seven all within 2 Kms of home were in dense bush started by 2 or more small combustionables. Those IMO, were lit by some bastard who knows how to start fires (unfortunately I suspect soemone with CFS training or know how)
So yes, I am some what pissed off by these idiots.

My son has a photo from when he attended at KI fires a few years back of his crew spraying water over a half dozen Koalas within a feet of their truck . The animals were just like little kids running under the hose on the back lawn at home was his description.

Well I just got back home. Work was okay and I only had to go out in the heat a few times. Thank heavens I don't have to drive in peak hour traffic though. But really ... this isn't the first time we've had high temps and it won't be the last. All in all it wasn't that bad - only one day and tomorrow back to 25 and rain. It's the week long heatwaves that are debilitating. I was thinking along the same lines LS but a lot more proactive ... like take them up in a fire bombing helicopter and then drop them into the thick of the flames seeing as they love fire so much.

Really dull and overcast today. 25C and rain forecast. How good is that! I've noticed that has become the norm around here ... one really hot day followed by a huge temp drop the next. I can live with that.

Well it was only 22C today. Lovely and cool and really pleasant. It must be horrible living in those areas that get 40+ temps.
