Gladys Berejiklian has gone full authoritarian. She needs to go. Alan Jones is now calling for her resignation. Oh well if Alan Jones is calling for her resignation then she just has to go doesn’t she! Tell me since you elected to grandstand your misogyny in another thread with a “barren” reference to some hapless human being with a uterus (oh and by the way prove to us Matt that you have a functioning scrotum - actually on second thoughts, don’t!) is Gladys “barren”? Gladys for all her faults does care about people. It wasn't her government that has held up the compassionate reason exemptions to international travellers, who are fully vaccinated by the way.

I’m over Sydney. My late parents lived in Normanhurst and I’d visit there regularly. But since they passed and my siblings retired, cashed in their Sydney property values and moved to the central coast, I don’t really have any reason or inclination to visit Sydney. The traffic is stressful and it takes too long to get around. The Harbour is nice and it’s pleasant to have a couple of days in a hotel in Woolloomooloo or Darling Harbour. A city should stay under 2 million. Brisbane shouldn’t grow any bigger and neither should Perth (now there’s a nice town!). But Sydney and Melbourne have grown too big. If you have to live in NSW or Vic you’re better off living in one of the second tier cities like Newcastle or Wollongong or Canberra or across the border in Bendigo or Ballarat. I hesitate to say Geelong. Dunno why. What’s wrong with Geelong? I'm a bit over Sydney myself. But I'm not over Manly. I love it here only 7 mins walk to the beach. However I cannot stay insulated here 24/7. I wish I could, but obviously it's not practical. So I don't love it when I have to leave the peninsula. I hate the drive to the M4 to get out of Sydney to the Blue Mountains. I hate the traffic on the Pacific Highway in Chatswood. I hate the view as I drive over the Ryde Bridge towards Rhodes. I hate all the highrise - it's frightening just looking at the mass of 20 to 30 storey apartment buildings all cheek to jowl. It used to be so pleasant there. But we must address the obvious reason why Sydney is expanding at such a rate. It's because virtually every migrant coming to Australia wants to live in Sydney or Melbourne. They will NOT go anywhere else. Hence all this relentless highrise and all the problems with these buildings. The latest one on the news is only two years old. The people who bought off the plan and have been living there now have to move out. The developers are muslim as so many of the developers now are. And they are ripping off the buyers. And the worst aspect of this growth has been the need to keep pulling down houses to accommodate more motorways and more tunnels all costing a fortune in tolls. You can virtually be shunted from one tollway to another right across Sydney. It's becoming horrendous and the cost is more than the ordinary motorist can afford.

I come to this board and it makes my eyes bleed. The only 2 subjects disgussed is ScumMO or the Chinese/Indian virus. Talk about the 2 most overdone topics of all times. Absolutely. The English, Canadian and US boards are much more interesting - not that I have any time other than to look in occasionally. But I do like the Pommy board and try to check in daily. This is not how I expected my retirement to pan out! I thought I would be travelling overseas and spending more time with friends and family - especially my grandsons who are 3 and 5. Not hanging around at home in a lockdown in a pandemic! And the weather is bad so I can't even go outside and garden. This must be the most miserable time of my life. Anyway, I maybe won't be around for a while unless I can get Telstra to fix my internet problems. I've got a new plan and they've sent me a sim card but I can't activate it. Just take it in to a Telstra shop says Raj and Mustafa and Coco and the other 10 idiots I've spoken to over the past 5 days! One of those calls lasted 2½ hours! Of course I try to tell Raj and Mustafa that we're in a lockdown! We are NOT supposed to go running around to Telstra shops. We are supposed to stay in our homes - that's what a lockdown means. But of course these clowns don't understand that. And besides when I did go down to a Telstra shop - twice actually - I was turned away because they are only open for limited hours and all their staff are busy and no, you can't book at time. You have to just happen to be here when there's a free staff member which means hanging around a mall for hours and hours - which of course you don't want to do in a pandemic. So, you can't even get in the shop door! This wouldn't have been a problem if we had been able to connect to the NBN as we were told last March. Instead there is a world wide shortage of equipment and so we won't get the NBN till 12 September at the latest. But what to do in the meantime??

That is why they are building the infrastructure for it, such as the Sydney Metro Rapid Transit system, the second airport and high density accommodation approvals all over the place. Clover Moore hates it, but she can't do much as her rejections get overturned.

The safety of all takes preference than hurting the touchy feelings of what ever ethnic demographic that refuse to comply with the lockdown...its an appropriate response from Gladys to get the coppers out there. Or like China weld their doors shut.
Then there is the mixed messaging ...Matte megaphoning Alan Jones, who is promoting that Covid is no worse than the flu and lockdowns unnecessary now for Matte Gladys is becoming all authoritarian for having to make lockdown orders.
Are these people who are not complying are they listening to Alan Jones....I think they are, SW Sydney is 2GB part of wonderland.
On one hand it get tough on the Arabs and next its keep things open and let the virus spread....fucknutism has a lot to answer for with herd stupidity.

Barren is such a delightfully archaic word still - Gladys Berejiklian is (as far as anyone knows) not pregnant and at the age of 50 is unlikely to ever be pregnant let alone go full term. So yes, she is "barren". Good luck to her! Being barren is a fine choice. She is also a republican at heart so she isn't all that bad. She is also an Armenian Apostolic Church goer. The Kingdom of Armenia was the first state to adopt Christianity as its official religion - how about that!

Gladys supports rorting which is a race to the bottom in politics...and for that reason she should go, or should have been removed at the time it was discovered.
As for handling the pandemic she cared more about her image with the notion she could keep things open gaining praise from the PM and the RW media as being good for business, which it isn't when the virus spreads and the lockdowns needed to contain are longer and deeper rather than quickly lockdown and contain spread....that was known and yet she chose the self glorification path which is proving to be one big mistake..

Huge gatherings still taking place in Southwest Sydney. Typical of the type of people who live in that area.

Is Matt’s visceral race hatred his version of far right “”wokeness”?

The police were in the Northern Beaches and Bondi. But unlike SW Sydney, the people in those LGAs did not require heavyhanded policing as they generally obey the laws.
Stella should be able to confirm that in relation to the Northern Beaches area. But around my neck of the woods, we generally obey the law.

Is Matt’s visceral race hatred his version of far right “”wokeness”? It's typical of the Guardian - and you - that you'd dredge up that pathetic article. And of course in your delusional view the mussos are poor persecuted victims of the police and wider community. It' s a pity you weren't more consistent because if they were Christians you'd be frothing at the mouth and scorning their religion and posting as many far left loony articles as you could find. But the cold hard facts are the mussos are lying to the contact tracers and this is what is making it so hard to follow up and get people into isolation. The mussos are lying about where they've been because they haven't been staying in their own homes but visiting family members 30 km away in violation of the covid lockdown laws. And the fines are $1000 - not that the police are going to fine them - although they're fining everyone else which is a bit of reverse discrimination which you will ignore. The mussos are also refusing to get tested. And the mussos are not getting vaccinated. Shall I go on? Whereas we on the beaches heeded the lockdown and believe me, at Christmas and New Year it was really hard to take. We couldn't leave and no one else could come to the peninsula. My next door neighbour and I had the quietest NY we have ever experienced. She stayed the night at my place and it was just the two of us so it was hardly a celebration. But we did it for the good of the wider community - and that's something that has never concerned the muslims. And we came out of that lockdown with the virus contained and eliminated. And we expect the same of the other areas in Sydney. Let's see if they can get as many tests as the northern beaches managed - 70k in just over a day! You need to get it into your thick skull - the mussos are super spreaders! And while they refuse to do the right thing, the rest of Sydney is vulnerable.

Not to sure of the demographic makeup in SW Sydney could be a a % of Asian, Christian Lebanese, white honkies, Muslim doesn't matter as these people are spreading the virus household to household which could easily go rampant to thousands not hundred's and there is talk of the whole state going lockdown.
Fuck em...throw the book at these people who are having parties and large family get togethers, poor ol' Gladys must be having nightmares dealing with this, then she thought she could be heroic in not locking down sooner, bad as the muppets she put the police on.

I was just out and this middle eastern (I believe Lebanese) man, probably in his late 20s was walking behind me on the phone. I wasn't listening in, but he was loud enough.
One thing I did catch was him saying "don't get tested, the only reason they have cases is people keep getting tested".
I don't see SW Sydney getting out of this to be completely honest. Perhaps we'll have to go full Israeli and put checkpoints on every road in and out of that part of Sydney.

Matt's letting his imagination run riot. He wants to turn SW Sydney into a ghetto. Will you use the WW2 Warsaw Ghetto as your model? Brick walls to enclose the entire area topped by razor wire. Minefields adjacent to the wall, machine guns placed strategically manned by Waffen SS ADF personnel - nothing less than the SAS will do - and panzers (sorry!) tanks Matt! Don't forget the tanks. You'll need the army for this type of operation. No sweat! The Liberals love to put a bemedalled general in charge of a program so they can give it a snappy military sounding title. Leave that one to Scotty from Marketing!
Of course in the Warsaw Ghetto you still had to cater for "normal" people from outside the ghetto who need to travel from point A to point B but the ghetto was in the way. No problem! You blanked out the tram windows so that the tram could pass through the ghetto without the passengers being obliged to view the squalor. You'd have to figure out what to do to the transport corridors in SW Sydney.
There's no "soft racism" with you Matt. You're verging on advocating a "Final Solution". You're a hard Jim Crow racist and your racism is informed by your "prosperity gospel" Hillsong far right "Christianity" based on crap theology. I've seen Fat and Occam wipe the floor with you on that score.

I know you think it is racism, but it isn't. The NSW Chief Health Officer said that they know that the virus is being spread between families in southwest Sydney.
So what is the solution? They obviously don't want to abandon their traditional family parties and shisha sessions. So they should be locked in until Covid-19 runs its course.

Post by ponto on Jul 11, 2021 22:33:33 GMT 10
Its not racism when the people of SW Sydney are not complying with lock down orders, they are behaving selfishly and the people of SW who are complying have the shits with those who are not complying and dobbing them in. Also the non compliers are lying about their contacts so the government is finding it hard to contact trace.
And then you have Liberal MPs coming out and saying let the virus rip.
