For anyone interested, Paul Murray will be interviewing the Prime Minister tonight. He has already foreshadowed what he will be pressing the Prime Minister on, that being the relaxation of restrictions for those who have been fully vaccinated. Paul Murray has said he believes that fully vaccinated people should be exempt from border lockdowns, be allowed to travel overseas without the need to quarantine upon return etc. I'll definitely be watching. Problem is: Fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus. They actually don't know that. Evidence is suggesting that they don't spread it even if they catch it due to their infectious period being dramatically less. Australian public health officials aren't the best people to seek opinion from when it comes to things like this as there is no lived experience of it here. In the United States, the CDC says it is now safe for vaccinated people to be mask free. The only reason for that advice would be that they are less likely to catch it and less likely to spread it.

Can a vaccinated person spread coronavirus?By Sanjay Mishra Project Coordinator & Staff Scientist, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Vanderbilt University 25 MAY 2021 THE CONVERSATION Immunologists expect vaccines that protect against viral illnesses to also reduce transmission of the virus after vaccination. But it’s actually tricky to figure out for sure if vaccinated people are not spreading the germ. COVID-19 poses a particular challenge because people with asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic infections can spread the disease – and insufficient contact tracing and testing mean those without symptoms are rarely detected. Some scientists estimate that the number of asymptomatic COVID-19 infections in the overall population could be 3 to 20 times higher than the number of confirmed cases. Research suggests that undocumented cases of COVID-19 in people who either were asymptomatic or experienced very mild disease could be responsible for up to 86% of all infections, though other studies contradict the high estimates. In one study, the CDC tested volunteer health care personnel and other front-line workers at eight U.S. locations for SARS-CoV-2 infections weekly for three months, regardless of symptoms or vaccination status. The researchers found that fully immunized participants were 25 times less likely to test positive for COVID-19 than were those who were unvaccinated. Findings like this imply that if vaccinated people are so well protected from getting infected at all, they are also unlikely to spread the virus. But without contact tracing to track transmission in a larger population, it’s impossible to know if the assumption is true. What we know for sure is that if someone does get sick with COVID-19 after vaccination, in what is called a “breakthrough infection,” symptoms will be milder. Studies have found that people who tested positive for COVID-19 after getting just their first vaccine dose had lower levels of virus in their bodies than unvaccinated people who tested positive. The researchers believe the decreased viral load hints that vaccinated people who do contract the virus will be less infectious because they will have much less virus that could be spread to others. A preprint study which has not yet been peer-reviewed suggests that the Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccine can produce coronavirus-fighting antibodies in the oral and nasal fluid. Since that’s where SARS-CoV-2 makes its entry, antibodies in the mouth and nose should block the virus from getting into the body, effectively providing “sterilizing immunity.” This would also mean vaccinated people probably wouldn’t spread the virus through respiratory droplets. These bits of evidence are promising. But without more studies, scientists cannot yet conclude that COVID-19 vaccines really do protect against all transmission. Studies attempting to directly answer this question through contact tracing are just beginning: Researchers will track COVID-19 infections among vaccinated and unvaccinated volunteers and their close contacts. According to Alan Jones, Sydneysiders are being locked up like "battery hens".

SKY NEWS AUSTRALIA
Out of all the casualties of this coronavirus pandemic 'truth is the greatest': Alan Jones
Sky News host Alan Jones says it is a "certain truth" we continue to be "wrapped and trapped" in a vortex of alarmism, engendering an almost permanent state of coronavirus fear.
"I told you in that article I have written today, that the tactics used by Government are confusion and fear," Mr Jones said.
"Government isn't going to get away with this tactic for much longer. Start telling us the truth.
"In all the alarmist talk today, how many of these cases are serious? Answer, in the whole of Australia, which is now paralysed again, one case.
"I have said many times that there are many casualties in this coronavirus story. Truth is the greatest."

Perth Today, a woman in her 60s who was vaccinated, died. Tests are being done to see if her death is vaccinated related.

The premier has capitulated to media pressure and has imposed a stay home order for people in Waverly, Randwick, Woollahra and the City of Sydney. This is not necessary.

Well I think it is! What I particularly want to see are police at the wharf checking on all those day trippers! They are not allowed over here. We've done our bit. We've gone into lockdown at the worst possible time of the year - Christmas! We did it without complaint. Now we want to see the rest of Sydney lift their game and abide by the rules. I know it's the start of the school holidays but it always happens just before school holidays. We don't want to see you over here and I hope there are fines if you do. After all, this has mucked up my son and DIL's holidays with the littlies as well. They'll still be able to leave for Lightning Ridge on Monday but they will have to stay in NSW and not cross into Qld where they were going to visit my brother and SIL. So they're suffering for this outbreak. So I hope they throw the book at that driver and whoever he worked for. Apparently he reckons he has some sort of clotting history in his family so he didn't want the AstraZeneca. Ok, fine! But don't expect to work in a high risk environment where you're ferrying around overseas airline staff and remain unvaccinated! Someone should have to pay for this!!

Well, the general rule is that over 60's (or over 50's a little while ago) are not to receive Pfizer. HOWEVER, in New South Wales, and I believe all states, the use of Pfizer in people over 50 (not 60) is still permitted in quarantine workers, transport staff, residential aged care residents and workers etc. The rationale is that these people should have full protection in the shortest period of time, rather than waiting 3 months. So this driver had no excuse. If he was transporting people from the airport to quarantine, he was eligible to receive Pfizer from a state hub.

The police are investigating it atm. I believe when he says there is a "clotting" history in his family, he means they have thrombocytosis. That's an elevated platelet count and therefore can cause blood clots. However he didn't say he actually had that condition himself. But the blood clotting with AZ is surprisingly associated with thrombocytopenia which is a low platelet count - in which case the the blood doesn't clot. Whatever, he should have been vaccinated one way or the other - or just not work in that particular job where his only passengers were overseas airline staff! That was absolute madness. Now he's caused a cluster of 60 people infected. Although he is now saying he didn't get it from his work but from a cafe in the Bondi area. Reckons he caught it from a woman who was coughing. Said he doesn't want to be patient zero.

Apparently he didn't do anything wrong ... while the business is contracted the NSw government should have covid checked that people ferrying travellers around more frequent, and yank travellers at that with their high rate of covid, and should have made sure that a vaccine was available.
Same as those working in quarantine security...all should be vaccinated.

It always seems to happen around school holidays, long weekends and major exam periods.
Children are being conditioned into thinking this is "normal". For us it'll be the NEW normal, but for them it'll just be how things are and that is how the government wants it.

I would really hate putting any of you in charge of a chook raffle.

Don't blame him and use him as the excuse of the spread when it was purely the government accepting covid contaminated people back from India in the first place. And the blame of the continued lack of a lockdown now goes to featherbrain Gladys who is probably more concerned about her new boyfriend than NSW residents. She hasn't got a backbone.
