Really?* Apparently, the name will be no more. Coon cheese is named after its American creator, Edward William Coon (1871–1934) of Philadelphia, who patented a method, subsequently known as the Cooning process, for fast maturation of cheese via high temperature and humidity. * Now, await the Pavlov's dogs responses ...

Yep... of course it has gone too far.
A smack in the face to the founder.
Looks like that bloke up there just wanted 15 minutes of fame.
Congrats to him for getting it. Shame on Canadians for their virtue signalling.

Perhaps someone should come up with a brand of cheese called “Stupid White Trash Cascūnt Cheese” and see how you'd like it?

What an abusive attack on poor Caskur! "Coon" was the name of the process inventor Kiwi.

You're a lowly race baiter I have noticed... you and some others here. _____________________________ Pfft... Ivan whats-ya-name KTJ is female basher from way-back however, he is far too gutless to face the American right-whingers at other groups who would make mince meat out of him. He's weak sauce. I am very, very tuff.

I ignore him and his disgusting behaviour. I feel he is always trying to assert himself. Honestly, if he didn't carry on so outrageously, we'd ALL just ignore him - even though it's quite obvious he hates women and tries to belittle them at every chance. Hence his obnoxiousness. He's got some mental health issues going on in his life. Pity he can't act normal - even if he isn't, lol.
Anyway, this is about cheese. And I can tell you, even though I really liked the Coon brand, I won't be buying it ever again. And I'll fire off an email and let them know why.
They're as bad as the Captain Cook hotel in Paddington that has just erased the "Cook" part of their name to become - The Captain, Paddington. < sigh >

The name despite the process inventor is offensive to the Aborinigal people, ...listening to Peter Russel-Clarke on radio national who was the face of Coon cheese advertising in the 1990's who initially questioned why change the name, people should be more concerned with inclusiveness, then pointed out he has 3 half Thai and 1 half African grandkids, the presenter then asked whether he asked his grandkids if they found the word offensive, Peter said no. End of conversation then 5 mins later Pete, who is in his 80's, came back and said he asked his 1/2 African grandchild and the lad answered yes he did...and expalined his reasons as what the name represents something derogratory...so Pete changed his mind and stated the name should change.
Pete like most older Australian people didn't think the name Coon was offensive as it was American terminology, representing slavery, Pete shows the abilty to change ones mind is important, and the older folk have to realsie its the younger peoples world to change....there's a time to hand over the banner, old peoples reality is not young peoples..
Also Coon cheese is not the same recipe as in the past, I remember it being crumbley and bitey...it no longer crumbles and not as bitey, it suits the American palate more`as in being rubbery and less bite...sput ding...!!...its OK to change the name.

Well it doesn't matter because I'm only going to buy Australian made and owned cheese in the future. That's if I can find some. And which of course might start me off on the selling off of our food security.

No way! It's Australian from now on. Did you know that Norco is the only Australian dairy company that is Australian owned? So buy your milk at Coles as their home brand milk is Norco. And buy the Norco brand as well.
Do not - under any circumstances - buy Dairy Farmers! It's owned by the Chinese.
When did we give up our food security? Let's take it back before it's too late!

They need to hear that though. Twitter is the place to go to say you're going to boycott the brand.

Cook never lived there, of course. It was where his parents once lived (possibly he might have been conceived there). Beautiful, a house cook never lived in, relocated to a place he never set foot in. Gotta Love Melbourne.

I for one am extremely offended by people taking over words and giving them new meanings... Like "rainbow", gay, queer, faggot, Coon, and so on. You're giving into stupidity. I don't think we should give into stupidity. The world has to change, sure, but changing the Queen's English isn't a real change, is it? Imagine all the girls who are named "Gay"... do they have to change their name because the homosexuals stole their name and gave it another meaning? Nah, hands off our English language. I'm not falling for the bent American's view of "racism". Even the American blacks at Fleas group knows its all fabricated rubbish.

Historical illiterates! Bad as ScoMo on the other side of politics who wanted to “re-enact” Cook’s “circumnavigation of Australia” that never happened. There’s a Captain Cook Crescent in Narrabundah in Canberra. I wonder if they’ll fiddle with that one! Fairly upmarket area, I doubt that they would.

The Dutch discovered Australia first and my side of the country to boot.
Anyway, my ancestors settled at Australind 1832 which was 3 years after the Swan River settlement. And we did not get convicts, (I call white slaves) until 20 years later.
And also, the only reason Australia got UK white slaves was because the Americas said, "we don't want anymore," so they were shipped to Australia instead.

I go for Coles Tasty ... The product info claims "97% Australian ingredients" ... Huh? What would be the 3% non-Australian component?

The originator of the cheese was an American who had a number of dairy factories in NY, he's cheese was never marketed as 'Coon' cheese that was an Australian manufacture named Ward who named it originally Red Coon.
Coon cheese as I recall from the 60's was always considered a bit of a joke name because of it's racial conatations...its a anglicized derivite of German Kuhn.
Its piss weak not to give the Aboriginal people a break from racism.

I'm only eating Jalsberg atm... And of course Parmesan. I make a thing called "Cheezy toast"... Not melted on toast. Basically I get crust loaf bread, under the grill toast one side, turn it over, butter and sprinkle parmesan, return to grill the buttered side a toast well. Then I use the cheesy bread with fish and salad or whatever. It just adds that little oomph with fish and salad.

Originated in the Bega Valley and hard to find for a great strong and bitey is 'Kameruka' Cheese....which roughly translates as dumb white honky in Yuin.
