Yes, we KNOW you reside in the diseased-shithole section of Australia.
Not to worry … just so long as you continue to get your franking credits, eh?

It's too bad that they went for franking credits... now if the Labs went for the 6 figure yearly government handout to retired politicians... you know, those HUGE sums of money they get for NOT working or signing, mutual obligation forms until the day they die.. Everyone has been told we're all in this Sars-CoV-2 together but in actuality, the thieving scuzzbucket politicians are exempt.

Tony Abbott made an appearance and was talking about a pay cut for politicians though he took no such measures when he was in office...dare say Tones will be on Sky News as a media commentator, perhaps sharing a desk with Peta Credless.

I never liked Abbott. He did a few silly things which I won't bother typing out although right before he got turfed out of his job, he was actually appealing to me and got my attention. Don't ask me what it was, the details have now long escaped me. I wished we had a charismatic leader to be proud of.

<gasp> you mean ... you mean ... you don’t find Scotty from Marketing charismatic??? The guy thinks praying for Australian citizens jailed on mainland China requires prayers to be said to get them out rather than dealing with the issue himself... I have no confidence in that sort of person. And there was that little Hawaiian holiday break that everyone's forgotten. I liked him when he was the Immigration Minister. Nah... he isn't my favoured PM. It wouldn't surprise that one day our WA Premier ran the country. True Labor Premier was very big balls.

Only have to look to the US to see how religious conservatism and politics creates chaos....I would be embarrassed to be call a yank the way the covid 19 virus has been handled.
I would like to see Penny Wongo as PM....that would really piss the yanks off, given we are meant to be running with US led anti China hysteria.

Only have to look to the US to see how religious conservatism and politics creates chaos....I would be embarrassed to be call a yank the way the covid 19 virus has been handled. With their fucked up obsession with guns, their vindictive approach to law & order which favours the death penalty and targets minorities, their overblown paranoia about “states’ rights” which leaves a whole slew of laws in the hands of the states which in Australia are federal laws - such as immigration, citizenship, marriage and divorce, and voter registration which leads to monstrous gerrymandering to prevent minorities from voting and which favours white rednecks - and their paranoia regarding universal health care as “socialist”, America has become the international model of how not to run a country. And that began way before Trump. America has been going down this moronic path ever since the Republicans pivoted from being a Conservative party based in the north to become the party of white backlash and whitefella anger under Nixon after LBJ’s civil rights laws did away with Jim Crow back in the 1960s. The fact that the latest Republican President is an utter moron is the logical culmination of a process that has been underway for the past 50 years. While it would be a relief to see Trump get his comeuppance, defeating Trump won’t stop that moronic process. The day after Biden’s inauguration won’t be a Democratic “morning in America”. We’d all love to see Penny switch to the House of Representatives and have a crack at the Labor leadership Ponto. Being in the SA Branch I’m in a position to confirm that among Labor people in Adelaide that lady is loved and revered. But here’s the thing. Actually two things: 1. Penny herself has said that in her opinion (and I disagree with her on that but this is about her, not me) the country is not ready for a prime minister who is lesbian and Asian. It’s all there in her biography which I’ve read and we keep on being asked by our skinflint friends if they can borrow it, so it’s out on loan. The point here is that everyone wants to read Penny’s biography and that’s a measure of the esteem for her in this town. I wonder if I disagree because I want her to be wrong on that one but fear she might be right. 2. An opportunity to transfer Penny from the Senate to the House of Representatives was lost when Kate Ellis resigned as Labor Member for Adelaide and Penny didn’t nominate. Instead we got Steve Georganas who’s a decent enough kinda guy and I’m warming to him as our local member. I’ve liked the way Steve has used the pandemic lockdown to exploit the possibilities of Zoom to hold regular forums in which he gets Labor frontbenchers like Jim Chalmers, Tanya Plibersek, Mark Dreyfus, Chris Bowen and Bill Shorten - as well as Penny Wong - to talk with local Labor party members and answer their questions. Steve has also acted as a type of online “hub” for SA Labor people to stay in touch with each other during the lockdown. He’s proving to be a good facilitator and effective communicator and I like that. He’s certainly a big improvement on Kate Ellis! But if it had come down to a choice between Steve and Penny it would have been a no-brainer. You have to accept Penny’s decision not to go for the top job. And it is her decision. Her position here in the SA Branch is so strong that what Penny wants, Penny gets. To give you an example: some years ago now the Right faction (and in SA Labor the “Right” is the SDA union, the “Shoppies”) moved to bump Penny Wong from the top position on the SA Labor Senate ticket to replace her with an SDA “faceless man” named Don Farrell. If you’re unfamiliar with the name it doesn’t matter. “Faceless men” tend not to be household names. What happened was that the shit hit the fan in SA as rank and file members rose up and threatened mass resignations unless Penny was restored to her place at the top of the Labor Senate ticket. The State Convention of the party that year was a fiery affair. Sparks flew as speaker after speaker spoke in favour of Penny Wong. So there she stays at the top of SA Labor’s Senate ticket. The good news is that the country hasn’t “lost” Penny Wong. She will be one of this country’s finest Ministers for Foreign Affairs in a Labor government. Let’s help get her there.

Such as believing the god delusion inside his mind is a real god.
That kinda says it all about his grip on reality.

Penny Wong perhaps not now as leader then after a high profile ministership....ya never know.
The US is imploding, though like a company once it gets to certain level in profits and jobs then becomes to big to fail for government, there are exceptions such as Lehman Brothers, GMH...its more the exception than the rule so doubtful the US economy will collapse to a banana republic.
Certainly the social fabric is unravelling from continuously giving to the elite with governments that are owned and run by the elite families, and for the reasons you outlined Pim with health and guns etc. and the basic mistrust of government intervention because its socialist.
Watched an interview with a negro American woman when questioned about the BLM and why were they burning down their community, she replied..'we don't own it, its not ours, poor black Americans own nothing' ...entrenched poverty brought about through religious conservatism, that would still keep slaves if given the opportunity.
And because the poor Americans do not travel they will still say the USA is the greatest country in the world, yet it is increasingly becoming one of the most dangerous places on the planet.

Penny would make a very good PM, but as has been canvassed already, it ain't gunna happen.
Her position as Senator is way more secure than if she went to the Lower House. No matter how long Labor is out of office, she is more or less guaranteed employment in the upper house.
Why risk such a good thing?

Meanwhile ...
People in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will be required to wear a face-mask (or other covering) when out and about as of midnight Wednesday.
$200 fine if not wearing one.
However, "common sense" will prevail. i.e. When running, not required. Certain work - call centres, teachers ... not required.
I'm OK with that move.

No matter how long Labor is out of office, she is more or less guaranteed employment in the upper house. Why risk such a good thing? What a miserable bean counter’s reason for Penny to stay put: she’s got her cushy billet in the Senate so why risk a move to the Reps? No wonder you vote for your franking credits. If your take on Penny Wong is that she’s motivated by the desire for a “cushy number” rather than any other higher principle then the Liberals are welcome to you Trickles. You certainly are clueless about what motivates Penny Wong. But then you accuse Labor of “whinging” because Scotty from Marketing seized on the health crisis in Melbourne to shut down the nation’s parliament in the week that the Treasurer will be unveiling the economic statement that will define the Morrison government and Scotty from Marketing’s prime ministership at least for the rest of the year and quite possibly for the rest of the the 46th Parliament. Clearly you don’t believe in parliamentary scrutiny and you support abuse of executive power when it’s a Liberal government doing the abusing. Penny Wong certainly doesn’t agree with you and the ghost of that Australian parliamentarian Gough Whitlam, at whose shrine you pretend to worship in your bandwagon hopper pose as a phony “progressive” would be withering in its scorn and contempt. May he haunt your nightmares.

Poor old Pimp ... Wind him up and watch him go! Only the Latte sipping Labor Luvvies watch Wong's quizzical facial performances and think that she adds one iota to the Labor vote. Poor deluded fools. p.s. Tell us again about your hero Bill Gwandpa Pim. That story about how he was going to rip away $5,000 per annum from 850,000 old people who have the lowest incomes. We wuv that story Gwandpa Pim.
