One of my all time favourite songs is "As Sisters in Zion / We'll bring the World His Truth".
The vision on this YouTube video is wonderful as well, all happy to be worshiping and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as their saviour.

You can't beat this. Children, with such a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When children have a faith in the Lord at such a young age, they take it into adulthood. It benefits both their life as well as their future children and the entire world. Saving one person has the potential to save GENERATIONS

It should be illegal to brainwash children with religion.
They are too gullible at that age.

Matt comes onto the Religion Board with a big sign: "Please Troll Me!" - and KTJ is only too happy to oblige. Because Matt makes it so easy and KTJ is rather lazy and shallow when it comes to debating ... but then so is Matt. What with Matt who only has his slogans and mantras and KTJ who only has his trolling and spamming, they make a boring pair.
But what KTJ doesn't understand is that the famous statement "God is Dead", which Black Sabbath channels in their nihilistic "song" - a term I use advisedly when it comes to heavy metal - was uttered by a German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche in the late 1800s to describe the modern world that was taking shape as the 20th century approached. It was never intended to be a statement of atheism. But I doubt that either you or Black Sabbath would ever get it.

Matte
You want religious music? try this on for size...none of your happy clapper stuff here.
I'll tell you the story behind my discovery of this piece.
Over twenty years ago, I was living in Kalgoorlie, married at the time (though on its last legs).
And my brother was dying.
I had joined a choir run as a music subject in the local Uni campus and had just finished practice and was driving home. I tuned in to ABC Classic FM and they were playing a latest recording of Rachmaninov 'Vespers' (All Night Vigil) (St Petersburgh Chamber Choir) and this track started as I drove.
Within minutes, I had to pull over. Despite being sung in Russian, a language I do not understand, this music was at once, achingly beautiful and painful.
It tore at me. I erupted in sobs.
It remains one of my favourites to this day.
Last year, my partner (a staunch atheist) and I toured Europe. One 'must do' I had on my list was to attend Evensong at Westminster Abbey. We arrived early to join the queue which grew longer as the last of the tourists left. Being towards the front, we were ushered, silently, into specific seats of the ornate choir (quire) of the Abbey. Moments later, a procession of robed male choristers came and took their places amongst and before us.
These were no ordinary singers...this was THE Choir of Westminster Abbey.
For the next forty-five minutes, between a few spoken words and readings, their voices soared into the vaults above.
My partner left in tears.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the piece above which is traditionally sung in complete darkness in the Orthodox Churches

I assume, Grim, that you're referring to both of the above. I concur. Heartily. Pim It was directed at KTJ Personally, I have no issue with Matte sharing his music. He set up the thread to do that, we chose to either follow or ignore. I chose to put a piece in of my own in the hope he comes to know the beauty of music beyond 'Amazing Grace' G

Grim I have zero problem with an individual either professing a religious faith or being an atheist. Both are perfectly respectable philosophical/ethical positions to hold. It's when hubris kicks in and one or both starts to frame it in terms of possessing a monopoly on "truth" (i.e. I'm right, therefore if you disagree with me you must be not just in error but morally reprehensible and/or delusional) that my hackles start to rise. In that regard Matt and KTJ are flip sides of the same coin. In addition KTJ + 2 have been trolling the Religion Board for the past 5 years and their posts are predictable and dripping with conceit regarding their own what I call "paleo" atheism and contempt/arrogance towards any and all expressions of religious faith that in effect they've trolled the Religion Board out of existence. Which is a shame because a good Religion Board would have the potential to be a stimulating forum for the discussion and exchange of all sorts of spiritual/philosophical/ethical viewpoints. But they've killed it.
You're right to offer Matt a richer and more profound musical diet than the pap he serves up.
Regarding the Russian Orthodox liturgy and its music, there's a story of how the ancient pagan Rus, centred on Kiev, embraced Christianity. There was a pagan prince dude called Vladimir. Since the Rus were basically Vikings who'd settled in those parts when they'd finished doing their raping and pillaging "Vladimir " probably called himself Valdamar but I digress .... Anyhoo, Vladimir decided that he didn't want to be a barbarian slayer and pillager who drank mead out of the skulls of his slain enemies anymore and thought he'd upgrade to "civilised". Trade considerations probably had a lot to do with it and why not. Back then the way to move upmarket was to rebadge by becoming Christian. Vlad decided to research this whole religion thing and sent out a bunch of courtiers to do an international study trip, sample the liturgies and doctrinal setups of the major upmarket religions of the day and get back to him with a report. Which they did. They looked at Islam, Judaism, Western (Roman) Christianity and finally Byzantine (Eastern Rite) Christianity. Vlad dismissed Islam out of hand as too dour and besides, their alcohol ban just didn't suit these hard-drinking Slavo/Scandinavians. Judaism wasn't on either since, reasoned Vladimir, if the Jews managed to lose Jerusalem they must be a bunch of losers (peace, Yassir! Blame Vladimir!) So it was down to a choice between Western (Roman) Christianity or the Eastern Orthodox stuff. Apparently in Constantinople they put on such a musical show in the Hagia Sophia for Vlad's delegation that it blew them right away and they hurried back to Kiev with the strong recommendation that Vladimir adopt the Eastern Orthodox model. Which he did and the rest as they say ...
It was the music wot dunnit! And it still does as far as I'm concerned. I couldn't care less about theological arguments regarding the number of angels who can dance on a pinhead. Just give me the music! If there is a god, s/he has to be able to sing.

Thanks Pim, for the history. Indeed, the music reaches in and tugs at something visceral within.
And then there's the architecture.
As an amateur astronomer, I often ponder the link between Astronomy and Architecture.
Ancient peoples gazed to the heavens, saw (imagined?) their Gods and then built temples to them.
Now, here's a different slant on things...
We often bow to the God of Science and give thanks for our advancement but many principles of mechanics, engineering and mathematics were forged in the carving and assembling of stone for these massive temples to the gods.
How different would our world have been without the inspiration of these Deities, real or not, to drive us along this path?
