They tend to be abut too gory for me. I prefer horror gore, not real life kind of stuff.

I loved Boardwalk Empire....lots of gratuitous violence, and it was all based on a true story (except that the REAL Enoch “Nucky” Thompson was actually called Enoch “Nucky” Robinson). Those 1920s and 1930s gangsters sure knew how deal with people who crossed them, and yeah I know it was brutal stuff, but many decades later it is now ancient history, so nothing wrong with enjoying movies and television series about those times. I can remember the scene in Boardwalk Empire where Al Capone walked into a bar in Chicago to sort things out once and for all with somebody who had beaten up one of his bag-men and he beat the guy to a pulp with his fists, then put the boot in, then finished him off with a bar stool before pulling out a huge wad of money and chucking onto the bar, saying, “That's to pay for his funeral!” before walking out. Real “class” in a brutal gangster kind of way. That was something which really happened too. Al Capone didn't piss around with anybody. Which is why I guess the Feds went all out to lock him up, even though they could only make tax-evasion stick.

I missed seeing “Black Mass” while it was showing at the movie theatre where I live, due to me working the wrong shifts at the time.
Not to worry....I pre-ordered a BluRay copy of it for when it was released and it turned up in the mail today.
It's on the list of movies to watch sometime over the next couple of weeks.
I've actually got quite a pile of them to watch.
