It’s been 6 months I have been on a diet.. Strict diet. No rubbish has passed my lips.. Yesterday and today, right this moment in fact, I feel like a fresh cream and jam doughnut. I think I could eat one 3 feet long. So far this past 6 mths I lost 12 kgs ( bit more) which is 26.5 pounds. I lost two weeks recording because I didn’t start recording my weight until after dieting for 2 weeks so I have no idea what I lost in the first two weeks. People think it’s wonderful but I am annoyed it’s not more. This week I have the opportunity to break the diet for one night… Should I, or shouldn’t I include dessert at the celebration? Some people think 1 time won’t hurt and that is true enough but if I stay strong and resist I could make it to the first year without breaking the diet. It only works out 1 pound a week.

Try to resist or take a low calorie one with you so you can join in dessert.

Jody's suggestion is good Caskur, or maybe only actually eat half the desert and then increase exercising to make up for it. That doughnut looks good, it's all fat though isn't it.

I meant Jody's suggestion about a low calorie desert.

My Dr says you need to give yourself one day off from a diet every now and then. I'm trying to get back into my Atkins diet.

I'm going to resist but I'm definitely going to pig out on the entree and main meal...
I can't wait.

Kurt walking into the Esplanade Hotel…. $45 Buffet but Tuesday night it’s only $38.00 per head… My Entrée and Main meal Not as nice as last time but a pass… The meat in the main course was to die for… I should have had twice a much than I did with the meat…Oh well, next time! I didn’t arrange the food on my plate very nicely… I was too busy stacking it as high as I could!

I don't like donuts because they are too oily. And I don't eat entrees or dessert. But I sometimes might have icecream at home. However eating out these days the meal sizes are gargantuan. This has become my favourite place to eat over the past several years. I just love the laid back northern beaches ambience of the Terrey Hills Tavern up in the Forest on the beaches hinterland.

People think it’s wonderful but I am annoyed it’s not more. Caskur I think it's wonderful that you've shed the 12 kg over the past 6 months. Congratulations! As for being annoyed that it isn't more, it seems to me that if you're shedding an average of 2 kg a month over 6 months then you're doing splendidly and you should give yourself a bit of credit. I realise of course that it doesn't work out that way, that you shed kg at a steady even rate. You have your ups and downs. I've been battling my weight ever since last October and so far it's been 8 kg over 4 months so it seems to be dropping at the same rate as you. My GP is pleased with me and says "Don't stop now!" I gave up smoking a few years ago - after many years of struggling, managing to stay off the fags for a months or so and then falling off the wagon ... again and again: I think for some people giving up the durries is like serial monogamy: they love doing it so much that they keep on doing it! Anyhoo, I finally kicked the tobacco habit in 2008 and haven't touched them since, so I think I'm done with 'em for good. Problem was I then experienced a big weight gain and that's what I'm battling now. I'll get there! That's a good rate of reduction. You don't want the weight to fall off you too fast. We've all heard of crash diets where people shed a heap of weight only to put it back on again..

I gave up smoking for long lengths of time like 3.5 yrs, 4 yrs, 6 mths, 50 days but stupidly went back to it. It's one addiction falling off the wagon is too easy and each time harder to give up.
sugar was easy to give up... I have to give smoking away again. That will be my next step and no, it won't make me gain weight because I'll just do something like chew sugarless gum. That will be my dummy substitute!
I think small changes for the better is better when you're older and have ingrained bad habits.
Enjoy life!
And PIM, you sound like over the years you have gotten the best out of life. Well done!

I have an exercise helper too. I try and walk fast for 45 minutes... I'm too old at 54 to do anything more strenuous. I use this to burn blood sugar. It works well.
