yes, I can hear the groans from here - a "chick flick" - and you're not wrong! But, it was fabulous! I had the urge for some ME time and how better to zone out of reality than with some celluloid fantasy. The leading lady, Laura Michelle Kelly oozed personality and sex appeal (looked like Nigella Lawson) and had a fabulous singing voice. Magda Szubanski was, well, Magda - she played her part beautifully, and Ronan Keating was hot, hot, hot - bare bum n all! Tasmania's coastline was showcased as stunningly rugged and beautiful. Don't be put off that there's a lot of singing - it works, and it really is a feel good movie

I was wondering if it was going to be any good. The leading lady does sound like a talented woman....not an Aussie though.

Yes, she's very talented with a lot of stage experience in the U.K. and U.S.A. The leading characters had moved to Tassie from the U.K. for hubby (Ronan) to be as close as possible to where he works, which was in the Antarctic studying whales. Their circumstances were plausible and the perfect segway to Aussie living, which as been done by so many others, just different circumstances. There was actually a story line which highlighted various issues that women experience as mothers, working women, friends, wives and as sex objects. The obverse was also highlighted of the males perspective when relationship agreements are changed or threatened. I don't have an issue with Aussie movies being made with the occasional international actor as lead, given a lot of overseas movies are made with Aussie actors in the lead - quid pro quo
