... she's going to rough it out in the Western Sydney boondocks for a week, hey! So why is she going to get the green light at Rooty Hill? Sydney traffic management will give the PM a green light run to Western Sydney on Sunday for her week long sleepover at Rooty Hill RSL. The traffic management centre will co-ordinate a clear corridor for the PM's chauffeured car, Ray Hadley revealed on 2GB. Isn't she supposed to be experiencing the problems faced by ordinary western suburbs folk and especially the stress of commuting on the M4?? It's ... the Rooty Hill Show Gemma Jones The Daily Telegraph February 28, 2013 12:00AM Labor MP Mark Butler makes fun of Rooty Hill Source: The Daily TelegraphTHE commute from Kirribilli to western Sydney was too far, Prime Minister Julia Gillard claimed yesterday as her week-long sleepover turned into a debacle amid a minister's smutty gibe about where Ms Gillard would stay. Mental Health and Ageing Minister Mark Butler made a low-brow comparison of Rooty Hill RSL to a Benny Hill or Carry On skit, which disgusted the local deputy mayor. Mr Butler also mocked Ms Gillard's assertion Labor was governing and not campaigning for the September 14 election, labelling the visit "Carry On Governing filmed at Rooty Hill RSL". "There are so many different sort of double entendres you can do with this place. I stay at the Penrith Panthers when I'm in western Sydney because I'm not sure I could check into the Rooty Hill RSL with a straight face," he said. "It just conjures up all these sort of Carry On films and Benny Hill episodes." Blacktown deputy mayor Russ Dickens said: "It is a disgraceful comment ... the people of Rooty Hill are great people - they couldn't be cheapened in any way." Mr Butler later apologised, saying: "I also made clear in this interview that spending time talking to people in all parts of the country, including western Sydney, is a very important part of the job of all politicians, up to and including the PM." He had stayed at Penrith Panthers several times since becoming a minister, he said. When asked about Mr Butler's comments, Ms Gillard, who will move into Rooty Hill on Sunday night, said: "I will enjoy being there." Despite tens of thousands of western Sydney residents commuting to the city for work daily, Ms Gillard said it was too far for her to commute.A trip from the Kirribilli prime ministerial residence in her chauffeured car would take about 45 minutes each way because Ms Gillard would be going against Sydney's peak-hour standstill. "In terms of commuting from the prime minister's residence in Sydney, that would involve transit time and it's just going to maximise my time on the ground if I take that out of the day," she said. She said staying at Rooty Hill would allow her to be in "the economic powerhouse that is western Sydney" as "intensively as possible". Western Sydney Liberal Senator Marise Payne said voters in the region commuted without Comcars. "They commute every single day, they do it on trains, they do it on the M4, and making gibes about it, making light of it is not going to relieve stresses for those people," she said. Labor is facing a slaughter in western Sydney seats and could lose MPs such as Blaxland's Jason Clare, Lindsay's David Bradbury and Greenway's Michelle Rowland if it cannot turn opinion polls around. Ms Gillard's communications director, John McTernan, was key to planning the sleepover designed to regain lost ground. Former British prime minister Gordon Brown, for whom Mr McTernan also worked, suffered when his plans for an almost identical week-long campaign in his electorate in 2009 were leaked, at a time when he was struggling for traction with voters. A Labor MP questioned Mr McTernan's judgment, saying "everything he does seems to be for the showmanship of it - people can see through it". - See more at: www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/national/minister-jokes-about-pms-sydney-visit/story-fncvk70o-1226587249391#sthash.btxnamXI.dpuf

too many people in Sydney... make a new capital city. I agree!! Get all these newcomers out of Sydney!! We're full up Juliar!! Take your friggin asylum seekers and refugees and house them down near Canberra!! We don't want them ... savvy?? But Labor is not content with Sydney being the most wretched city to live in if you are residing out in the vast western boondocks. They want to increase the holding capacity of Warragamba Dam to remove the surrounding suburbs from the flood plain. That means they can increase the number of new building blocks in the area to well over 8000. Oh joy!!

One of my very best friends is from South America. She speaks Spanish and is of Spanish origin ... I have no problem with people like her coming to Australia. She has been here since 1985 and she and her family have worked since they arrived. She is not a bludger, a parasite, a malingering disability pensioner!
She is a contributor ... someone who pays her own way. My sort of person.

Not only that Cas, her kids all have uni degrees while she works as a nurse and they all came with excellent English skills, business skills and financial independence. In fact two of her kids teach English!! Yet as she will tell you, they were put through the mill before they were allowed to migrate here. Astonishing really, when you consider the absolute scum that Labor allows in.

She was born here but at the age of 5 went to Sth Africa... came back to Oz in her late 20s... Her father was a tuna fisherman in Sth Africa... they made plenty of money naturally and all the family work VERY, VERY hard...now still... and my friend became a grandmother a couple of months back. Her eldest son married a Fillipino .... so the little kid is part, Dutch, part Portuguese, part Fillipino.... a tri-racial baby....lol.. It's so cute... And on another note, my girlfriend knows a lot of the family of the murdered Sth African model.

They paint luxuary yachts... people here can catch their own fish and cook it themselves... why would they want to eat poisonous fish from a fish and chip shop? fish and chip shops have had their day... now only an ill informed lunatic would eat from one!

He's English and they have a couple of kids. She tried to enrol their son in an Australian university so he wouldn't have to do compulsory national service training in South Africa. Of course the authorities here wouldn't allow it so she couldn't enrol him even though she could pay. Yet the same authorities allow tens of thousands of Indians to enrol in our universities every year knowing full well all of them will demand permanent residence once their courses have finished - and none of them will go back home!! While he would always go back home to South Africa. And his mother is Australian. But of course Australians are considered 2nd class citizens to the Labor govt while Indians seem to be welcomed with open arms.

I actually feel sorry for people who have to live in the outer west. The message for Gillard is Sydney is full up. Move your asylum seekers somewhere else. Hey Prime Minister, come and walk in our shoes Ben McClellan The Daily Telegraph February 28, 2013 12:00AM Jamie Taylor, 34, and his partner Gemma Scott, 21, and their son Jakob, 5 months / Pic: Craig Greenhill Source: The Daily TelegraphIF Julia Gillard wants a real taste of making ends meet in western Sydney then Jamie Taylor and Gemma Scott are more than happy to trade places next week. The engaged couple live within earshot of the upmarket Novotel Hotel at Rooty Hill RSL, on Sherbrooke St, raising three children on a single income while juggling a mortgage and the ever-increasing cost of living. Mr Taylor, a travelling upholstery salesman, spends more than half his weekly wage on the $400-a-week mortgage and did not think Ms Gillard's week-long stay at Rooty Hill would "prove anything". "Pay my mortgage for six months, then she can stay here," he said. "She can have my wage and I'll have hers. She can pay the bills and raise three children. "We're surviving. We can afford to pay the mortgage and put food on the table but that's it. I haven't bought new clothes in a long time." Ms Scott stopped working to raise five-month-old Jakob but will soon have to go back to work because the family couldn't survive otherwise. She said the Novotel was not the place Ms Gillard should stay if she was serious about seeing how battlers survived. "The Novotel is the best you can get around here. Why doesn't she get a house in the middle of Shalvey," she said. "She wants to see how the western suburbs people live but she is staying in a hotel? "I don't think she is going to connect with any of us. "She'll walk into the RSL where the old people play bingo, maybe go and talk to the people playing the poker machines, but is she going to go out into the community and talk to people to see how they're coping and actually get people's opinions? "I don't think she will." For her fiance, battling western Sydney's congested roads every day costs him sales opportunities. "Early morning, late afternoon, it's bumper to bumper," Mr Taylor said. "The M4, Parramatta Rd, it's crazy. "I can only really see four customers a day." Their last electricity bill was $1600 for five months and they have more than $5000 in credit card debt. But Mr Taylor said he wasn't "crying poor". "I love it here but if I had the money I'd be living in Manly. I only bought where I could afford," he said. Even having dinner at the Rooty Hill RSL, costing more than $100, was a treat the family could rarely indulge in. Mr Taylor's eldest son James, 13, was taken out of a local Catholic school to attend Rooty Hill High because of school fees and Ms Scott said that the public school system was inadequate. "How can a child learn when they are getting so many different teachers in a term," she asked. Despite struggling to make ends meet, the couple can't afford not to have a security camera - a familiar sight on many western Sydney porches. They were almost cleaned out by thieves on New Year's Eve. Safety on public transport was also a serious concern. "I don't catch a train and I won't catch buses. I don't feel safe," Ms Scott said. "If we won Lotto we'd move to Manly, that's my dream place. Further away from here would be better. I don't feel safe in Rooty Hill." - See more at: www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/hey-prime-minister-come-and-walk-in-our-shoes/story-e6freuy9-1226587241179#sthash.37uwjKp8.dpuf

3 kids? sorry but why have them when you can't afford them? Bizzare statement. Perhaps they could have afforded them and things have changed. What should they do ? Killing them to keep costs down isn't an option for most people.

Ray Hadley is the only one with the guts to expose this corrupt lying Labor union govt for what it is! Ray Hadley is a thorn in their side and will continue to needle them because members of the public are more than willing to alert him to the nefarious activities that are going on in the community. They probably also alert the SMH for example but don't expect that biased rag to publish anything derogatory about the PM. They have the same attitude as the Juliar ... move along folks, nothing to see here.

Well look at all that negtivity answering the call of Hadley's hate drum for the low wits..... negative? do you think it is because they're hard workers going no where fast? And they certainly are going nowhere fast ... especially on the M4. I know people who have had to make that trip down the motorway 5 days a week to work. It's beyond belief ... at most stages in peak hour a giant carpark. I've travelled up on a Sunday and been caught in a huge traffic jam because of an accident. The people of the outer west need more consideration. Bringing more people out there is beyond comprehension. They are full up. And now Juliar has another stunt up her sleeve with the Warragamba Dam. She's stealing money from flood victims in Queensland to increase the holding capacity of Warragamba so as to remove the surrounding suburbs from the flood plain. Yet they've never suffered flooding - ever. It will however bring their insurance premiums down because of the past possibility of flooding. Just another stunt. But increasing the housing lots now available .... to 8000! That means that the traffic jam that usually ended at the Mamre Road turnoff to Mr Druitt and the other houso suburbs will now continue on to Penrith. Stupid bitch!
