Wow! That's one hell of a swing. Tell you anything? The merest scintilla of an insight? If you come onto this board declaring you're going to vote for the party led by the man who comes into the parliament to pull a stunt like this: Expect a bollocking!

What this by election shows is people are taking climate change serious....the deniers have become irrelevant.
If the LNP had stuck with seemingly progressive Turnbull and made positive talk only of renewable's, even without really doing anything... they would have been well ahead.
The Abbott faction are now looking as dumb as dog shit.

The old Liberal Party, right up to Hewson, would have recruited Phelps (of course Hewson was the member for Wentworth back then but let's gloss over that inconvenient little detail!). John Howard was the great punctuation mark which changed the old Menzies Liberal Party from a middle class non-Labor party which, while hostile to unions and very Cold War anti-communist, nevertheless opposed redneck extremism and believed in a social wage, to a hard right conservative party that took a sharply neoliberal laissez faire line economically and combined it with extreme conservatism with a fundamentalist religious tinge on social issues. There was a place for the Kerryn Phelps of this world in the Hewson Liberal Party. There is no place for Kerryn Phelps in the party of Jonh Howard, Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison. And that was the square that Malcolm Turnbull could never circle.

Phelps is a Liberal progressive and she would have joined the party if not for the reason Wentworth selection was for a bloke....jobs for the boys in the LNP.
Long as she stands by her climate change stance.....as the backers of the LNP the coal mining Gina Rinehart lobby will soon go against the coalition if they don't toe the line.

Dee dum dee dum dee dooo...No one chop suey like I chopped suzy....Oh your here...some economic coalition narrative.
The decline in Australia’s economic fortunes is due primarily to wage stagnation for the majority of workers over the last five years and wage cuts for many. Pensions and benefits have failed to keep pace with costs. Unemployment and underemployment remain entrenched. The tax burden has shifted from corporations and high-income individuals to wage and salary earners.
Hence, most Australians no longer have the disposable income they once had. This impacts retailers immediately and then flows on to wholesalers, manufacturers, importers, primary producers, transport, tourism, entertainment and other sectors.
Australia has gone from being close to the best-performed economy in the OECD in 2013, to almost the worst now.
Of the 36 OECD countries, only Mexico’s gross debt has deepened further than Australia’s over the last five years relative to gross domestic product.
It's no wonder Peter Costello stated on the coalitions economic narrative is "very, very weird".

Higgins takes in part of the state electorate of Prahran, don't be surprised if it goes green. In fact, the greens might have a better chance there than in the neighboring Mackellar, aka Melbourne ports

How sad ... another female politician exits ... Who am I kidding?!!! Good riddance!!!!!!!!!! Why? You're voting for the Coalition so why celebrate this body blow? Or do you think that there are too many women in parliament on the Coalition side? I've only known of one other Coalition politician to quit politics for family reasons and that was Tim Fischer who resigned to give his disabled son the time he felt he needed. Tim left politics with praise heaped on him from both sides. I still respect the guy. For Kelly O'Dwyer to leave politics to be the kind of mum she wants to be says heaps of good things about Kelly O'Dwyer. Good riddance? I take it you don't wish her and her family well. Churlish of you! I agree with Yassir that Higgins is in play. Will it go to the Greens? You're a local, Yassir. I have no way of knowing. But if a seat like Higgins, John Gorton's old seat and Peter Costello's old seat - i.e. a former Liberal Prime Minister and former Liberal Treasurer - swings sharp left and goes Green, then we are truly in uncharted waters for the Coalition.

ScoMo has the record 1% interest rate.....glug glug glug glug.

There isn't much further that interest rates can fall. They're just about at rock bottom which means that as an economic stimulus interest rates are finished as a tool of economic management. That leaves ScoMo's tax cuts. Will they kick start the economy? Will ScoMo's tax cuts be the goose that lays the golden eggs? Try anything. Anything but give wage rises.
How are your franking credits, Trickles? Looking a little wobbly? As the ScoMo government's budgetary situation starts to look shaky and Frydenberg's budget surplus starts to look like the hapless Wayne Swan's ever-disappearing budget surplus, and the cost of the franking credits giveaways becomes an ever-increasing drain on a federal Budget that's going ever more into the red, I'd say that ScoMo himself before the end of the term of the 46th parliament and before he has to face the people again, will have to spin why franking credits are "unsustainable" and why that particular tap has to be turned off.

Trickles is still fighting the election campaign. I guess that as time goes by and the 46th parliament becomes a shitshow for the narrowly elected ScoMo government his "Look over there! Labor! Labor! Labor!" distraction will be all that he has.

What? Is this a pathetic attempt by you at scorn? Wow! Knock me down with a feather! You think I should be "embarrassed" because Shorten Labor narrowly lost the election? By one seat? So for you that's a landslide victory for ScoMo and Labor is left with the debris of defeat? I look forward to three years of pisstakes and classy sneers over the next three years as ScoMo lurches from Budget deficit to Budget deficit, as their toadying posture towards Trump's dysfunctional America becomes more and more exposed as bankrupt in terms of defending and promoting the national interest, and as their blackshirt style asylum seeker policies, their climate change denial and their fossil fuel addiction brings them into more and more odium, you desperately resort to your "Look over there! Labor! Labor! Labor!" It'll be mildly diverting as we lampoon you unmercifully. Will you go on posting your pictures? Will you burst into tears? Will you go on pestering the mods? Knock yourself out!

A few more steps to negative interest rates...rejoice Trickles ...and when companies are paying no tax there will be no franking credits for you....reap what you sow.
